The Lantern Corps Meme

I know how much you all love my pointless introduction blather, but because I am so (sprocking) tired,  I am just going to dispense with the deats and get moving so that you can too. Srsly.

Which Lantern are you?!

Rules:
1. Thoughtfully look upon the characteristics and mannerisms of your character/s, then decide whether they are a Green, Blue, Indigo, Red, Orange, Yellow, or Black Lantern. Star Sapphires count.
2. Post your result by inserting one of the Lantern icons below into your comment with a reason as to why they are that Lantern.
3. Others comment on the first comment with suggestions, comments, hints...whatev.
*4.* Extra Credit. Name a shy character who isn't doing the meme and name his/her ring.

Sheik:

Easy enough. He's, well, dead.

Zelda:

I think hope fits her the best. Everything she did was for the hope of Hyrule.

Kim:

I honestly don't know, but she's pretty willful?

Most likely it'll be a case of Bart not looking where he's running and crashing into it.

His Will Save is +14. :|

It's pretty much the sheer force of his will that is holding the nation of Teyr together. He is going to make it work, if it's the last thing he ever does.

Yup. It's to bad it's not going to happen before Cissie goes insane. But she'll gladly help him hurry things along... in anyway that she can.

Technically:

Image

But he hasn't hit that point yet, so then it comes down to two options:

Image or Image

Dude faced down Superboy-Prime and saved the world. More than that, he faced his own fears of being evil and not-good-enough and got back on the horse and did what he had to do. Even more than that, recently in the comics, he was the ONLY person that got saddled with a black ring that got rid of it through ingenuity and sheer force of will. Even Diana needed the help of a violet ring.

And supers are all about hope. No matter how bad it gets, they try to inspire it and they try to believe it. Kon's a fighter, and part of being a fighter is being an idealist even when the going gets rough and even when he's being a snarky pragmatist sometimes. Can't keep a good clone down.

He thinks he's gonna be Superman someday. As corny as all the stuff Kal spouts about hope and justice and the good in people is, Kon believes.

So one or the other. Will or hope. That's what the supers are all about.

It took some thinking about Jaime. He can be willful, he can be hopeful, sometimes he even feels RAGE. He can be a lot of things, but most of all, Jaime Reyes is ruled by one thing, that his parents taught him, that he's taught the Scarab, that guides nearly every action.

Compassion.

Brainy is easy. His ring matches.

Image

It is VERY hard to beat a Brainiac at will. That twelfth-level brain of his can be tremendously focused, through pain, through fear. That's why the Legion loves him despite his...quirks, that's why they rely on him.

When the rest of the Legion is beat to hell, when they're scared, when they're hurt, when everything is going out of control, when it's all going down the waste recycling unit there's Brainy. Good ol' reliable Brainy, stern-faced, working on the problem, trying to save them all...

And utterly fearless.

Jay's also easy.

Image

Love for Julia, love for his family, love for his friends, and love, of course, for Sooraya.

Jay's life is guided by love. Love lost and new love found.

Haha, great point about Superman. It can also apply pretty well to his fight with the Joker, since he was pretty much the only person that was willing to fight Tim, and even trapped himself in the warehouse with him as the satellite came straight towards them, because he wasn't about to let the Joker walk away.

Although, really, he beat the Joker by being a huge jerk, with his condescending little speech about how the Joker is pathetic. Is there a ring that just has to do with being an asshole? That really is one of Terry's defining features, after all XD

I'm waiting for the mods to reply back with an answer to whether or not it is okay for Nura to go to infirmary where she'll have the planned visions.

But after the plot in bendy time, Nura will have a little Legion cafe going for returning crew members and all others. Maybe Cissie could stop by then?

[identity profile] beyondgotham.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooh, I hadn't even thought of that! You're right, a lot of his motivation does come from his love for his family and wanting to protect them (or avenge, in the case of his dad). And in the way I personally write him, I do tend to include his love for Gotham itself in his motivations. Yeah, I could sorta see that.

[identity profile] notaheroanymore.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That'll work.

Damian's been taught that fear is power. There's some will and rage in him too, but mostly he's a scary little kid.

Leela is actually kinda terrifyingly ruthless. It's well-reasoned, it's for a good cause, but something like Sinestro is pulling, with the Yellow Corps making the Green Lanterns ruthless enough to survive--while she wouldn't do that to the detriment of innocents, she understands a tactic like that. On Erthe, she wasn't called the Warrior of the Wastes of Belgrath, the The All Seeing Scythe that Gleams At Your Severed Head in Blackness, for no reason.

If ever a Yellow Lantern could actually care about other people and wield the terror they cause as a weapon for good, it'd be Leela.

And yellow rings DO grab good people that are scary mofos. Peacemaker, Batman...

Sometimes good people do scary-ass things to do the right thing.

Adorable. Jaime is such a great character because he isn't all gun-ho for the hero bizz, he's just...himself. Sucks that DC kiddy-cornered him to the Booster Gold comic where it is only a few pages long.

And is now over.

...except against the girls he likes.

Brainy's ancestor, Vril Dox II was a Yellow Lantern for two issues, then he told it 'go to hell' and it left him - still helluva threatening man even without the ring.

I guess fearlessness and stuborness runs in the family.

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
But still one helluva awesome character. I hope he gets lots of hugs when his daddy comes back.

Compassion is a close second, but ultimately the Avatar is a symbol of hope. He brings hope, he hopes for the world, that people's better nature will shine through. On the ship, it's hope that keeps him going while he holds back the nightmares. Hope that the others will survive, that his efforts won't be in vain. Hope that he'll see Katara again, in person, but if he doesn't, hope that the girl he loves just gets to live and be happy because of what he's doing.

Aang hopes. Aang inspires others to hope.

And because of this, Aang can change the world.

Stubbornness is very much a Brainiac trait. XD

[identity profile] el-escarabajo.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, is a bummer. :\

I really like that he's just him tho, too. He just kind of sees it as a "with great power, comes great responsibility" and doesn't even help people out of guilt or anything--he just does it because he can.

And not even because he wants to, because he'd be perfectly content without all the craziness in his life. It's just he can't stand back when people are in danger if he can DO something about it.

[identity profile] falseswordsgirl.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 10:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the key differences between Bruce and Terry are:
1. Terry likes quips and snark.
2. Terry enjoys himself. Well, shows it better, isn't in denial about the fun.
3. Bruce generally is shown picking the mission over loved ones, Terry doesn't do that.

Again, it has been a while. *ponders looking for Beyond eps to watch online*

[identity profile] foreseen-future.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
...I think I just cried because of how powerful that speech is. I think everyone needs a Kon on their team.

Do us all a favor, Saphie, and go take over DC Comics.

[identity profile] el-escarabajo.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I really wanna write for DC. :<

[identity profile] beyondgotham.livejournal.com 2010-02-20 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That's pretty much right on all accounts. And definitely right about Terry having more fun with himself and the job.

Also, check your PMs.

Then go for it! Save us from the horrors of bad writing! I want my Birds of Prey back! [folds arms and pouts]
