SHAMELESSLY STEALING IDEAS FROM HEDGE

Fleischheim. It's a bustling medieval metropolis, possibly a port or trade city of some kind, surrounded by massive walls. In the center is a fortress, the home of the ruling authority of the land. It's an old-tech place, one where people who claim to have magic are believed, for they may or may not be telling the truth, alchemists yearn to transmute lead into gold, and guards in chain mail and knights in plate keep the peace.

Your characters are now in this place, as visitors or citizens. If they're not human, they are now. If they're superhuman, then they're merely the stuff of legends here, be it through skills or amazing physical prowess.

Go.

Captain James Tiberius Kirk of the good ship Enterprise is a relatively common sight in this port town. He's always back from his latest adventures in far off lands, with tales of beautiful women, strange creatures and treasure. Full of energy, handsome and friendly, you won't meet a better ship captain (or find a better ship, he maintains) this side of the world.

"Mister Kirk!" Lafiel waves at her fellow captain. A mug of ale is in her hand, despite her people's immunity to alcohol. She's trying to do something about her frosty, stuck up image.

"Captain Abriel. So pleasant to see you in port again." Kirk raises his mug in response, grinning. He knows the other captain and he's pleasantly surprised to see her drinking for once.

Lafiel is done with her mug before long. And yet, despite her slight frame and the amount of ale, she shows no sign of intoxication.

Not so her bondsman rowers, ship carpenter Samson and rower Paruvia especially. She crosses over to them and chews them out ferociously for not representing the Abh empire-of-the-waves well, at one point picking Paruvia up by the scruff of the collar to shake him awake. Perhaps this is what people are talking about...

"Captain, as you are aware, my constitution is highly resistant to the effects of alcohol." Spock, a cartographer by trade, left his insular island home (to the great chagrin of his family) to see the world, and is currently acting as ship's navigator on the Enterprise.

His friendship with Captain Kirk baffles pretty much everyone. Including, occasionally, himself.

"Oh!" Cassie approached the two seafarers. "You're from the Enterprise, aren't you? It's such a beautiful ship. Captain Kirk and- Mister Spock, was it?"
