[He's not about to turn down offered food, and is just about to enthusiastically tuck in when the man responds. This winds up with him holding a fork over the plate and looking somewhat confused.] Hey?

[Give him a few seconds, though. Once the words sink in, he flicks a glance down to the bow-tie, then up to the face in front of him. His eyes widen as the pieces snap into place.] Doctor?

[The Doctor fixes her with a look, still smiling to himself, and the look is a little too long and a little critical, like they're not just talking about a single glass of Purple]

So! New Years party, plenty of Purple, and shiny. Ready for that year coming up? [He starts to take a sip and then holds out his hand] Right, almost forgot. I'm the Doctor.

[The Doctor's smile widens] Yeah. More or less. Do you like it?

[He doesn't bother to elaborate what "it" is]

[Have a slightly crushed box. It's a ~mystery~ what's inside. The Doctor starts to head toward the party like a moth to the flame]

Although I wouldn't have minded seeing those leprechauns. Maybe next time...

[Jamie doesn't know about Alex's ability to eat the shadows, or even that they exist, really. It's never come up in conversation. So Billy gets an odd look.]

Oh, aye. That.

[He smiles, though, at his friend's last words.] Och, it was nothing. You've helped as well, ye know.

[Wheels around on his foot, gesturing at the box]

It's for you! Just let it sit for a few minutes and then open it; it may have gotten a little shaken on the way here.

[He shakes her hand. Like a good hug, he likes a good hand shake as well.]

Kaylee. Lovely name, Kaylee. Loads better than Stacy, rolls right off the tongue. [He pauses] I'm back? I don't think I've ever been to this particular party (until now), but...

No, I'm sure I would've remembered, even three faces ago.

[He does as instructed, and opens it after a few minutes.]

Doctor!! [Jamie goes to enthusiastically hug the Time Lord, and only at the last minute realizes that's probably not a good idea with the pie in hand, so he sets it down and settles for a good clutching at his sleeve instead.]

You're awake again! [Oh, right, there was a question there, too, wasn't there?] At least you've got the bow-tie this time around.

[Jamie approves.]

Kinda fond of it myself, 'n it's better than goin' around as Kaywinnit like my ma named me.

[ She shakes her head, perhaps a bit more enthusiastically than necessary. ] I meant back on the ship, but they were others of you...it's complicated. People pop 'n repod all the time here, and they don't always remember, but...

If you don't mind my askin', is this an older you or a younger you?

[Jamie arches his eyebrows briefly as Kaylee talks on and on and on. Still, he's remarkably patient while he does, because, well, he really doesn't mind with her. He takes a sip or three or four from his drink while he waits, nodding occasionally.]

Aye? I'd not mind doing something more like that. What resolutions do ye have in mind, then?

[The Doctor reaches over and gives Jamie a pat on the hand.]

Good, you approve of it. That would make you a minority but obviously you have good taste. [The Doctor switches gears, leaning in closer] So. Awake again. What's that mean? Kaylee mentioned something like that.

[The Doctor's off for good to get a look around at the party. Inside the box are some kind of delicacy from a very specific space port. Very hard to find, went out of style within less than a week. Despite their...age, they're still good]

Kaywinnit? But -- [But that's an ever better name! The Doctor is about to say just that when she goes on to talk about this ship.]

Depends on your definition of older me. Which ones came before me? [He could go down the whole list - grouchy, bowtie, Bessie, etc., but it'd probably be faster to just get it from Kaylee]

Aye, why I am not surprised you've met Kaylee? [He's going for a dry sort of humor with his tone, but he can't quite keep his fondness for her out of his voice.]

Well, you've been here before. Er...other ones of ye, I should say. Different ones.

I gave her a glass of purple. Would've given you some, but I'll have to get more. [He turns to look around over the heads of the other people at the party] She said that too. Multi-mes, I think. I was wondering which ones. There's a lot to choose from.

[Unfortunately, Jamie can't quite remember all the ones that have been there in the past, thanks to Stacy's meddling, so he'll just have to go with the ones he does remember.]

There was a blond one - he liked to wear cricket whites. And one as skinny as ye are, with hair that stuck up all over the place. And there was one that was here when I first woke up that...

[He stops, and frowns. He remembers there was a Doctor here then, but the memories are fuzzy, and he's not sure he can quite come up with a description.] Aye, well, he wasn't either of those. Or ye.

Just get lots of drunk, it'll make it better.
