Jamie's still kind of butthurt about being forced to join the Outsiders, so between that and his tendency to hold people at arm's length and relate to them in a purely professional context, he's not really trying to get too close. He guesses she seems nice enough, but mostly he's just satisfied that they might be able to accomplish something useful together in the Outsiders.
