Sam is one of three people on the ship that Rhiow will come to if she's having a personal problem. They think on a similar wavelength a lot of the time, and Rhiow finds herself thinking of Sam in much the same way she thought of Urruah - as a partner and a colleague - even though their personalities couldn't be more different.
She would love to see him as a wizard. She thinks he would be a good one - but he's so far out of his latency that it's unlikely he'd be offered the Ordeal now. Still, if she could pick one person to give Mastery to, it would be Sam.
