Sam's still working out how he feels about Eva. He thinks she's an intelligent woman and thinks they could have some decent conversations, but they're not likely to ever end up good friends. That she cares about Tom is a plus in her favor, honestly, but Sam...doesn't do so well with mother-type figures.

Schmuz? Is never, ever coming out around her. Sure, she's not still a Visser, but that's no reason to take chances. Especially since he's picked up that she's not fond of him, either. So, basically, he tries not to piss off people who could get him killed. It's a good skill to have.
