As a fellow former soldier, and secret lover of poetry, Mal tries to stop by the library when he can get away from his job. Not only does he not run the risk of having his reading interrupted by those he knows, but he enjoys the conversation Garreth offers, and the occasional chance to break up fights by people unwilling to respect library etiquette.

Today, however, things seem pretty calm. He thinks he might actually finish his book.
