MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS

Character: Billy Cranston
Canon: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Interesting things about the character:
-Billy can't cook. At all. The one time he tried, he made a souffle explode.
-His birthday is April Fool's Day. What a random date.
-He developed icthyophobia (fear of fish) as a young boy when one bit his finger when he was playing near the lake. A monster battle with Rita helped him push past the paralyzing fear, but he still has a lingering aversion to fish.
-He started out as a much more stereotypical nerd character than he is now. Every sentence had a thesaurus crammed in it, he wore overalls, and he couldn't fight. At all. He flailed and got thrown around and ran away. It's taken him almost three years of hard work to get where he is now, as a decent (but nowhere near the best) fighter.
-His powers guided his body in fights (as they do with other rookie Rangers) until he could survive on his own.
-His favorite type of cheeseburger is with guacamole topping.
-Like the rest of his original team, he wears his Ranger color (blue) all the time. It's a little uncomfortable for him not to wear it.
-The sub-part of science he's worst at is biology. He's not bad, just not a super-amazing-genius like in physics and chemistry.
-Builds improbable things like flying cars and memory-sharing devices, as well as one device that would bake a cake if you poured the ingredients in. Not all of them worked, but most did eventually.
-His favorite exclamation is 'prodigious!']
-He built communicators with a teleportation system that worked around the planet with just a touch. It's his dream to someday find enough power to bring that technology to the meatship.
-He's a bit of a xenophile. He shows the least fear of his team around new situations and alien life, and he rather likes making friends with people who are different or feel different. None of his friends back home would be surprised to hear that he's in a relationship with an orc/elf girl.

Interesting things about the canon/fandom:
-MMPR is the first installment of the Power Rangers franchise, a long-running Americanized adaptation of Super Sentai that's still going today. It's over 700 episodes so far.
-It was the subject of several controversies and bannings because live-action fights that showed the actors' faces had (almost) never been done before in childrens' shows. It attracted a lot of attention for being too violent, and this is why the unmorphed battles were replaced with masked Ninja Ranger battles in MMPR Season 3.
-Other than the exceptionally awesome theme music, there's little of quality in the show. The original set of actors has charisma and cute friendship going for them, and the action imported from Super Sentai plus the actors' martial arts talent adds some spice, but everything's cheaply made, preachy, and ridiculous. I apped Billy for the charisma and cute friendship.
-It's available for instant streaming on Netflix, for anyone in the USA who has an account. There are minor glitches in a few episodes but it's serviceable

Anything else?:

this is how I feel right now, honestly
