"They are. Echinarachnius parma," Luis replied off the top of his head. Invertebrates were kind of his specialty.

He checked her out one more time before actually focusing on his mission of locating various seaside creatures. The eternal battle between sex drive and science. So was the man named Luis Sera.

"Is that the species name? How do you know that? Do you have them memorized?"

Still mostly clueless about the being checked out, although just maybe she sneaked a glance at Luis's abs for a few seconds.

"I'm, uh..." Luis had no real good excuse for that one, aside from he was a freak who could remember that kind of garbage off the top of his head like some people could remember football scores decades later. "Sort of an invertebrate enthusiast. I've done a lot of study with them, especially sea life. So the short answer is yes, I have them memorized because I have nothing better to do with my time."

Loren just smiled. "I never said it was a bad thing. It's kind of impressive."

Luis looked satisfied at that, smiling up at her. "Gracias, amiga. Maybe I could teach you a few things."

"Somehow I don't think I can remember any species names. At least not after fifteen minutes."

"That's okay. It'd take a real nerd like me to want to know those anyway. I was thinking more behavior patterns or something like that."

It took everything he had not to add "or reproductive activities."
