"Mmmhmm," She stops with her advance towards him here, but looks like she's fairly open if he decided to, say, lean in towards her.

"Sometimes you just can't fight these things."

"Sometimes you can't, no."

He was mostly on autopilot now. So there he was, leaning in, and...

...And suddenly Claire was side-stepping him, moving around him fast enough to use his shift in balance to push him face-first towards the water.

...and splash!

Wait... what?

Leon actually didn't move initially, and simply stayed faced down floating in the water for a few seconds. His brain was too busy replaying the last ten seconds, trying to figure out how he went from right about to kiss her to this.

About eight seconds later, the end result of his analysis: She just played him good.

He finally got up out of the water, and pushed some of his wet hair out of his face to properly glare at her. Well, he was trying to glare at her, but he could force himself to make lineface #6, 'mild annoyance'.

"I think I hate you again."

She couldn't help laughing at his expression, shaking her head.

"Now we're even." It may have been a little evil, but it got the job done. Still smiling she moved towards him again, with the purpose of actually kissing him this time, not faking him out.

"And you know you love it."

Stop smiling at him like that, Claire, and stop moving towards him like that. He is trying to stay angry at you! Well, actually, he's trying to get angry at you to begin with, but its proving difficult, and that was not helping.

His lineface, though he tried to prevent it, became a smile. And as she approached, he reached out and pulled her to him. No way he was letting her slip away from him again.

"You can be an evil evil woman sometimes," he told her. Not that it stopped him from leaning in to kiss her.

This time he did actually get to kiss her. Even if she had the intention of ducking out of the way again, his grip on her would make that significantly harder. She actually even managed to stop grinning like a fool long enough to kiss him, bringing her arms up around his neck.

She pulled away a moment later, grin back in place.

"I can't believe you actually fell for that, though." Literally.

He grinned back at her after the kiss.

"That's because, for some strange reason, my brain refuses to work around you sometimes. I don't know why that is."

He suddenly swung her around a bit, faking as if he was going to toss her into the water, but still held on to her.

Claire held on tighter when Leon swung her around, because if he was going to try to dunk her again he was coming with her. When he proved to be bluffing she wrinkled her nose at him, before smiling a little.

"Somehow I don't think your brain is entirely to blame, here."

"Probably not, no," he had to admit. Particularly since he was moving in to kiss her again.

Well it wasn't like she was going to complain. She was also more than happy to kiss him again, raising up on her toes a little, for all the good it did in the water.

"Sorry I dragged you away from your hammock," she murmured after pulling away. She wasn't feeling guilty about getting him wet, of course. Just that he hasn't had much time to lie around and do nothing.

"I don't mind." Not when the end result was this. "I needed to get up and move around some anyway."

He relaxed his hold on her and turned towards the shore. "We should probably head back." Not that he particularly wanted to, but they were on a public beach, and Chris was around somewhere.

"Mmm," she responded, a little disappointed, but at least attempting to mask it. She looked off towards the shore too, smiling a little.

"Kinda surprised Chris hasn't come running across the water with his knife out." It was a big beach and there were a lot of people around, but she didn't completely put it past her brother to be ignorant of his baby sister making out with her supposed best friend within a 500 foot radius of him.

"Don't jinx it."

Claire couldn't help smirking at that, moving away from him a little, but sliding her hand down his arm so she could link her fingers with his.

"Are you afraid of my brother, Mr. Kennedy?"

[governmentninja]

"No, I'm not, Ms. Redfield," he replied, linking his fingers with hers. "But I do have a healthy respect for his skills and abilities."

He has seen the aftermath of some of Chris's BSAA missions, after all. He was well aware of what Chris could do if he put his mind to it.

Her smirk turned into a grin, and she tilted her head at him.

"Let's take this off center stage then, before he spots us. Because healthy respect doesn't really stop him when he's being irrational." It was reason number one why Chris didn't usually get to hear about Claire's personal life. He was the kind of well-meaning brother who responded to men upsetting his sister with a steel baseball bat.

Well, it's not like either of them could explain what was going on between them in a rational manner anyway. But whatever this was, the idea of taking it somewhere with more privacy was certainly appealing.

"Sounds good. And I'd rather not be interrupted anyway. This is the closest we've been to 'someplace a little more normal' in a long time." And he wanted to enjoy it with her.

Claire laughed a little at that. "And it should definitely be taken advantage of." She arched her eyebrows at him, before tugging on his hand and starting to wade back towards the shore. "C'mon."

"You got that right." There was a joke involving the word 'diving' that was almost begging to be made, but Leon wasn't that stupid. Not with Claire giving him that look.

He was quite content with heading back to shore to enjoy some alone time with Claire.

...And suddenly, Chris, on the other side of the beach, with a good couple hundred feet between him, and where Leon and Claire were, stopped everything.

Something odd was going on. It felt as if his Spider-Senses were tingling...
