"Really Mai, there's no need to be rude!" Katara said, looking a little annoyed. "After all, Meluly was here before any of us, and I happen to think she has great skin. Where's she's from, her species are a lot freer about stuff like this. Nobody was watching anyone, at least not where Zuko is concerned."

Because really, come on. Zuko knew better than to have a wandering eye anyway. He wasn't like a certain water tribe boy who seemed to have girls fawning over him wherever he went...

"Just because she's freer about it doesn't mean the rest of us want to see it, Katara."

"Which is why we were created with eyes and a head attached to a neck to turn away from what we don't want to see," Katara replied hotly. She refused to be embarassed in a place she was pretty sure she'd never be able to be this free again.

That, and she really did take a liking to Meluly. She just wished Aang had stayed. She missed him

"It's a wide-open beach."

Mai cocked a hand to indicate the very wide and clear beach (and the various crew members running about).

"It's not exactly private."

"I have a very nice shade, thanks," Meluly says in Mai's direction. Her tone's quite lighthearted--she's self-assured enough that the semi-insult just glides off her like water off a duck. "And this is perfectly natural, unless you were born with those robes attached."

She pauses a moment. "Besides, your friend there seemed to like it." Oh, yes, she's on to you, Mai and Zuko.

Katara opened her mouth to say something, but Meluly's retort seemed to actually say exactly what she might have said.

"They can not look too," Katara said, "If it bothers them. It isn;t like I'll ever get the chance to do this again."

Still, she's holding off sitting cross legged for the moment.

Mai quirks a brow, "Let's not bring my boyfriend into this."

She glances down at Katara, "I didn't realize you were so... free-spirited."

And yes, she is still deadpanning.

Katara sighed. "It isn't like I'm going to get to this at any other time, ever. And honestly, I doubt I'm going to be this free spirited from here on in."

So she stretched out her legs, swinging them idly.

Hey, Aang is still there. He's just...laying in the sand, after having tripped over Sensor, and Sokka will kill him if he opens his eyes, and he has to open his eyes to not accidentally walk into the ocean, so he's kind of stuck.

"There's nothing wrong with being free-spirited!" Aang insists. "Really, it's really, really okay. Really."

Like, say, if you'd to be more free-spirited around him somewhere more private, where people won't try to kill him for being there, that'd be okay!

A pause.

"...But for right now, can you put a towel on so I'm allowed to open my eyes long enough to walk away without tripping?"

Mai folded her arms, throwing a glance at Zuko "Zuko, I'm not going to kill you. I do trust you, you know. You're not going to do anything."

Because if he did, she would fillet him.

Sokka is too busy making sure Aang's eyes stay closed to get involved in this argument.

Katara sighed, but she also wasn't willing to have Aang hurt walking around with his eyes closed. She took a towel and put one on, looking rather discontented but still really glad to see Aang.

"Don't go yet Aang," she said. "I'm in a towel, okay?"

She turned to Sokka. "And YOU can stop that too!"

"Nobody is ogling my little sister until they've proved themselves, okay? And not until you're engaged, at least. I'm not gonna let a bunch of weirdos stare at you!" Protective brother is protective.

"Uh, no offense Aang and Zuko."

Meluly lets out a giggling laugh.

She's not wearing a towel, anyway.

Katara glared at Sokka. "I'LL be the one that decides that Sokka, or have you forgotten we aren't a part of the Northern Air Tribe? I still get to say what happens to me and my body!"

Not that she didn't appreciate it Sokka, she's just trying to not look so backward to Meluly, not to mention less female progressive.

"And since WHEN are Aang and Zuko weirdos, let alone oogling? Zuko wouldn't, you know that, and c'mon, its Aang!"

She's in a towel, but he's just checking.

"Yeah. Yeah, you can look. For now."

Luly props herself up on her elbows, looking over in the direction of Aang and Sokka. She's not really intentionally teasing them. Mostly not. Really! Honestly! Probably.

Katara glared. "NO, you don't! Because I have my own mind and make my own decisions! I'm allowed to do that, okay? So calm down and try to have some fun!"

She sighed, and sat next to Meluly. "You are SO lucky to not have to deal with people giving you guilt for this."

"To be fair, Katara, you're really pretty, and a lot of other guys will probably stare, and not see you as a person, and I think Sokka's worried about that."

He's still sitting in the sand, but sitting up now.

"...Even if that's their fault, for staring."

Mai threw a towel in Luly's general direction, "Just put a towel on."

Luly catches the towel, swings her arm, and tosses it back. "No, thanks," she says with a little bit of a smirk. "I like getting my sun in just the way I am."

She glances over at Katara. "So you're not completely right."
