"Yes, let's do that. Just one thing, though. What is po---ahhaahahhhh?!" Miku screamed a little and jumped when something slick and dark scooted into her leg. Unfortunately, her jump carried her right into Steve, whom she tried to alternately pull away from (HOW EMBARRASSING!) and cling to (HELP MEEEE!).

Steve was caught in a similar predicament. He hadn't been expecting the scream, or the girl flying into him. It threw him off balance and for a precarious second, he switched between grabbing her (OH GOD ARE YOU OKAY!?) to pulling his arms away from her (THERE'S A GIRL TOUCHING ME!) to trying to catch her (YOU'RE FALLING ON ME!) to leaping backwards himself (THERE IS A GIRL TOUCHING ME!).

As a result, he fell backwards and they both ended up landing in the water.

There was a splash! And whatever it had been, continued to swim along it's merry way. Miku, however, would've been somehow happier if she somehow gained the needed weight to make her sink to the bottom of the ocean.

Blub.

Her head broke the surface first and she coughed out the salt water that burned her throat. "Are you okay? I'm so sorry!"

Looking something like a red sea anemone rising out of the water, Steve emerged. Miku was still partially in his arms (which were still partially freaking out about it) and he was laughing.

"It didn't bite you or anything, right?" he asked, trying not to laugh at her or to betray that if he stopped laughing his head might explode out of nervousness.

"N-no, it didn't, but," Miku quailed. She wasn't sure if she wanted to laugh, cry, or keep flailing like she was. "I didn't mean to knock you over!"

Miku pulled herself up and helped up Steve (as best she could, anyway), her face thoroughly pink.

There was still a goofy smile plastered on his face as he accepted the help up, then paused to once again set his hair to rights out of his eyes.

"It's cool. I was kind of hot anyway," he joked.

She sighed in relief; at least he wasn't upset with her sudden attack. "We could fix this with ice cream," Miku pointed out and tugged him after her, towards the shore. "And hopefully not more sea creatures."

...It was about then she realized she still had his hand and let go quickly. Whoops.

"Yeah, let's go," Steve agreed. That had been the original plan anyway. Before a cute girl jumped into his arms. And held his hand. And oh wow, did it get brighter and hotter out here or what? Must just be that sunburn kicking in... yeah.

"They can't, uh, they can't follow you up on the beach. Except the crabs," he went on. What in the hell are you even saying? God...

"Maybe a giant squid," Miku added, confused as to where the words were coming from. Was she possessed? Maybe the sun was making her stupid.

Hey, there were weirder beliefs where she came from.

"Or a land shark... Yuck. I hope it wasn't a giant squid that touched your leg just now," he said, shuddering. Steve still had a rather large dislike of tentacles. Most people who encountered Umbrella shared this dislike.

It was official. This might have been the dumbest conversation Steve had ever taken part in. But at least she seemed to be enjoying it too, rather than desperately looking along the beach for something to serve as a distraction while she ran away from him, screaming.

"I... I really hope it wasn't." Miku replied and stepped onto dry sand. Safety, thank heavens. "But, I think we'd have more problems if that were the case." The runniosis of the dumb didn't seem to be cured by lack of seawater, it looked like.

Another topic, then, "You know, usually, the people I know don't like sweet things." It wasn't 'manly' or whatever Yuu had said once when they'd gotten crepes.

Steve hugged his arms over his chest to stay warm out of the water. "Nah, I'm not worried about some oversized seafood. I think all of us could take care of it pretty easy." He was able to avoid mentioning he'd shoot it off of her in a second.

"What's wrong with sweet things?" he asked. "If you leave out sweet things you leave out dessert."

"Oh... I don't know, if something's too sweet, it can ruin a meal." Which meant no chocolate volcanoes for Miku. It was still a weird, awkward kind of conversation, but for now, it seemed to suit. Some of the color faded from her cheeks, now that she didn't have to worry about running into him or accidentally violating some personal space issue.
