I totally didn't get this meme off anontalk what are you talking about
I've been something totally worthwhile today: figuring out what dog breeds my characters are using this site. I took the little quiz thing for what I thought my characters would be like as a dog/want in a dog and then went through the results to see what characteristic matched up.
I've only figured out Samus so far, but I figured she'd be one of these.
Australian Cattle Dog
Temperament
Smart, hardy, independent, stubborn, tenacious, energetic and untiring — these are all traits essential to a driver of headstrong cattle, and all traits of the Australian cattle dog. This dog must have a job to do or it will expend its efforts on unacceptable jobs of its own. Upkeep
The Australian cattle dog was bred to be active and tireless. This dog needs a lot of physical and mental activity, more than a simple walk on a leash can provide. A good jog or long workout, coupled with obedience lessons or other intellectual challenges, is essential every day. It is happiest when it has a job to perform.

German Shepard Dog

Among the most intelligent of breeds, the German shepherd dog is so intent on its mission — whatever that may be — that it is virtually unsurpassed in working versatility. It is utterly devoted and faithful. Aloof and suspicious toward strangers, it is protective of its home and family. It can be domineering. It can be aggressive toward other dogs, but it is usually good with other pets.
Upkeep
This breed needs daily mental and physical challenges. It enjoys a good exercise session as well as learning session.

Temperament
One of the few terriers bred to run with the pack, the border is one of the most amiable and tractable of the group. It is inquisitive, busy, friendly and biddable. It does like to hunt and can be independent, ingredients that make for a dog that may tend to roam if given the chance. It is generally good with other dogs and cats, but not with rodents. It is very good with children and makes a good companion for people of all ages. It digs, and some bark. Some are talented escape artists.
Everything fits except the 'not good with rodents' thing---Billy is quite fond of his lab mouse, Jack.
