...what am I doing?

And on today's menu for silliness, we have the:

COLORS OF LOVE MEME!

The situation: There is a big, glowy, pulsating heart floating in the middle of a mysterious void where all our characters are gathered. For a moment, it does nothing but sparkle innocently. Innocently, I say.

And then?

BOOM!

Beams of colored light shoot out from the heart, slamming directly into every character and overtaking their bodies with a warm sensation. It only takes a second---once it fades, the characters are unharmed. But they sure do feel differently. How differently? Well, that depends on the color of the beam that hit them. Which color, of course, is up to you.

Characters hit by pink beams will feel an intense admiration and desire to be near the first character they see. They will become worshiping fans, stalkers even.

Blue beams merely bring an inclination toward friendliness. It's an opportunity for characters who would otherwise hate each other to talk civilly.

If hit by a red beam, they will feel a romantic attraction to the first character they see. Intense feelings, desires to make people happy, that sort of thing.

If it's a purple beam, lust ensues. If clothes start coming off, though, please take it to personal journals!

Orange beams trigger impulses toward (mostly) innocent physical affection. Lots of hugs and kisses given out here!

As for usage: feel free to either declare what color your character was hit with right away, or wait to know who you're threading with before you make that choice. You can also choose not to have them affected at all, and point and laugh at everyone else's craziness. And you can combine colors, or switch at any time! That heart's gonna hang around and watch the whole thing. Because it can.

If I've missed any fun amorous effects, feel free to make up a beam of your own and I'll add it. Have fun and go crazy! Tweak the effects if you want---if it's one or both, or toward multiple characters, tweak it as you will but just let the people you're threading with know.

[Katara gets pushed/pulled/shepherded down into a sitting position, all the better for Luly to cuddle all over her]

You shouldn't think like that.

[Katara remembers why she likes Meluly: she is sweet and honest in her nuzzling, it was sincere and it relaxed Katara to the point where the affection softened her a bit.]

If I don't, I open myself up. It;s not always easy for someone like me to deal with a new, strange catastrophe every other day.

[It's kind of strange, though—usually she's at least a little more independent about it...]

[silently, she wraps her arms around Katara, trying to be subserviently reassuring]

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
[She usually is, but after everything, the worrying, the treating of her injured friends and the pain of not being with him: she was just tired, and hoping to not feel empty anymore.]

[She leans into the nuzzling a little.] "Sorry, I jut...get a little overwhelmed sometimes. It can get really bad. I feel like I torture myself with all the feelings."

She looked over at the older woman. "And how are you and Lafiel?"

[Meluly wiggles against Katara, a little pensive]

We're fine.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Katara smiled, gently patting Meluly's hair.]

I'm glad. I was worried about you before, you know. I didn't know what was going on before, and how you were, but I know now that you have people looking out for you. I'm really glad to know that.

[identity profile] aworldnevermade.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Luly snuggles into the patting, gladly taking the petlike role as long as Katara's touch is involved.]

Mmm-hmm... it's people like you that make things better...

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Katara ran a hand lightly from Meluly's hair to her jaw and back again. A part of her understands the emotion in this: the understanding of a safe between two people. It's a quite sort of bond that is understood more than talked about.]

"I just do what I can, what anyone would do. If it means I can make sure people I care about don't get hurt, I would do it."

[identity profile] aworldnevermade.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Luly lets out a grumbly little happy noise and tilts her head so that her jaw and neck are more accessible; her eyes slip shut]

You're a very good person... I wish I were more like you sometimes.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Katara knew that the touch of one person to another was a powerful, and rested her hand gently on her collarbone, rubbing the older woman's shoulders.]

If I were a good person, I wouldn't make so many mistakes. I would be able to make things easier for the people that care about me.

[identity profile] aworldnevermade.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Luly moves along with the touch eagerly]

You're doing the best you can. You should stop stressing so much about it.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Katara expertly moves her arms back and forth over the shoulders, rubbing the aches and pains from Meluly. Whatever must be happening to her lately has taken its toll: Katara would know the feeling, and worked along her spine as well.]

I'm doing all that I can. I just want to be better at it, that's all.
