Song drabble meme!
It's pretty simple and fun, folks. This is how this works!
( 01 ) Have a playlist ready! Don't use all your songs--try and narrow it down a little.
( 02 ) Let everyone know how many songs you're working with. Also, which characters you would be willing to write about.
( 03 ) Others tag your post, picking a character or pairing or friendship or familial relationship or whatever, and then choose a number from your list.
( 04 ) Write a drabble related to that song, using that/those character(s)!
HERE'S THE CATCH:
You only have the length of the song to write a drabble!
(Or, you could, you know. Just put the song on repeat until you hit a stopping point. Who's gonna know?)

Hey I bet you didn't see this coming
Billy and Renne, 27.

Ke$ha - Tik Tok
"Eeee...eee!"
Billy's eyes shot open at that sound. Accompanied by the wavering he suddenly felt within, he knew that it meant only one thing: Renne had found chocolate at the party.
They were in trouble.
With a silly grin on his face, the little blue beastie staggered over. "Bee, where is Bee?"
Oddly, though his sentences were slurred, they were in more gramatically correct English than usual. Billy would have to puzzle over that later, though---his friend was in trouble and needed to be protected.
At least, that was what he'd initially thought.
Somehow, with a swift bumble over here, a charming grin over there, and the help of certain sneaky friends of Billy's, the human found himself feeling...looser than usual. The lights were vibrant, the mood was perfect, and he was ready to fulfill every fun urge he'd ever felt?
Alcohol replaced Billy with a party animal, yup.
In a flurry of passionate pleas for dances (a slurred "Hey, come on, let's test the effect of bodily gyrations on pain level" worked wonders), Billy, Renne, and everyone else were having quite the interesting evening. All night long, they got progressively more...wild.
Until the human and imp found themselves on Billy's bed the next morning, wearing glittery trousers and feather boas.
The very next moment, Billy swore to forever put a stop to this dangerous exercise in loss of control. But the party had sure been hopping!
And the footage collected by certain colleagues had sure been interesting.

Evanescence - My Last Breath
Was this the end?
That last Ohm explosion had taken more out of Billy than he could afford to lose. In this case, a limb or two on top of all the previous stabbings, burns, and blood loss. Ordinarily a medic would be nearby to stem the situation until they could afford to return to Stacy, but this mission had required absolute secrecy before it all went to hell.
Incidentally, that was where he was going, and with no familiar face to bid goodbye to before he departed.
What little he could still see suddenly darkened---was that the coffin falling over him? No, a wing. By the claws and scales he felt close around him, he was able to identify Kang one last time. In battle, their Draconian leader was always there. It made sense, he thought.
Right away, Kang knew that there was no chance to save the human. Too many wars had ensured that the signs were known. Go, save the others, sir, Billy thought desperately. But in the heat of the moment, that had slipped into a whisper.
And Kang would, that was as sure as the sunrise. But first, there was just a moment to make the dying human comfortable. And a moment for Kang to grip a bloody shoulder in promise. They looked at each other---well, mostly Kang looked. Billy's vision was too far gone, but he could feel his friend. Feel the vow of retribution bubbling under the surface, the goodbye that he couldn't hear over the roar of battle.
The next second, Kang was off to fight this battle with unmatched vigor, and Billy was left to fade away with a last hope for Kang and everyone's future, senses consumed one by one until---
---his last conscious thought as a living being was that death felt like a wave of fire.

This Is Not A Date
Aladdin and Jasmine - A Whole New World
"Do you trust me?"
This new adventure started with a deceptively simple question. Billy and Mei Ling were standing at the threshold of the Sensoriums, a plot bouncing around in the Blue Ranger's head. If she said yes, they could---
"Why shouldn't I?" There was a rising moment of panic, but the smile in her voice told him all he needed to know. Taking her arm with a gentlemanly grace he rarely displayed, he guided them into a wonderland of...
...bubbles! Everything around them was a stream of bubbles, lit from all by angles by new and interesting light sources. A fascinating thing to study, to be sure, but for once he wasn't entirely focused on the light physics.
The light did something more for them. It lit their world, set the mood---and for once, he couldn't recall a more beautiful sight than what was before him right now.
Not the bubbles, but the person popping them. To him, it was simple: wonder at the world and the fascinating things in it was beautiful.
And the delight in her eyes and questions she asked proved there would be plenty more information to uncover and share.

Gentle Hands
Rarely had the Observation Deck been so crowded. Then again, rarely had the fates of so many of their crew hinged on the news that would soon be reported back to them. Several of their friends had been conscripted for a dangerous mission, all in the name of stopping the Ohm. Whether they would return alive was the question of the hour.
That tended to bother Billy, with his science-borne need to find conclusive answers. Just waiting for someone else to deliver the information clashed with his style, and it made him feel...helpless. Weak. So many things that he didn't want to feel. Panic and dread were starting to bubble below the surface, and it was only a matter of time before he broke out into a cold sweat.
Luckily, he never had the chance. A strong, slim, and warm hand slipped through his, squeezing knowingly. Suddenly feeling ashamed, Billy turned to look at her. Katara, he knew---only her hands had the unique texture borne from both physical combat and Waterbending. Hands that could heal as easily as they could kill, and apparently as easily as they comforted.
When they made eye contact, Billy instantly felt as though a suit of armor had been wrapped around him. Not that he overestimated his chances in any upcoming battles, but he felt anchored to something special. Someone special, rather. The friend who'd perhaps guided and shaped him the most in the absence of the friends from his former world.
We'll pull through. That was the message silently passed between them, and as Billy threaded their fingers together he privately believed it. They'd lost much, gained much, and most importantly they were both heroes---as he said long ago, heroes were those who helped people no matter what.
Sometimes, that meant each other.

Billy and Kaylee - 23

What was home, anyway?
To them, it certainly wasn't a neat little house on the corner with a fence and a dog. None of them had that luxury in this war, instead coming together on this massive ship flying to what sometimes seemed like nowhere.
Kaylee had Serenity, of course, and Billy was sure that she loved it. When she spoke of it, the pride in her voice matched his own when he described his closest friends. It was a wonderful place, and he'd been honored with the opportunity to explore it, but the ship's walls didn't talk to them.
And Billy had the mostly powerless Command Center, towering in the background of the City. They'd visited that too, salvaging spare parts, making fun of the lightbulb decor, and wondering just what the old place could still do. But there were no sages or helpful robot buddies to greet them.
So walking down memory provided some comfort, of course. But it wasn't a substitute for the joy of a shared joke or the warmth of understanding. What brought that was being together, building something excitin' or amusing. And shiny, if Kaylee had her way.
As they walked from the mess hall one day, they seemed to realize this. There had been talk of food back 'home' in an attempt to distract from the slop's texture, and many weird faces and ducks around the table later, they were ready to find it.
"You can't always go home again..." started Billy as he wiped some slop from his face.
"But you can always make one of your own," Kaylee finished, smearing something across his nose for good measure. "I'll be the pesterin' sister n' you're the embarrassed brother, hm?"
"Something like that," Billy agreed as he wiped it off, all smiles. "I was going to say that I'm proud of the new family I've chosen, but..."
"Ain't havin' none of that. You know you love it."
After pouting at her playfully, he had to briefly squeeze her shoulder in agreement. "I suppose I do after all. How could I hurt someone smiling as widely as you?"
"Much better." And they walked back to the lab arm in arm. Though the people changed along the road, the nature of friendship didn't. It was bright as ever.
