[Katara and Nura would not have foreseen this, of course. Far from being married, as they hadn't quite got around to it just yet, the two settled for having a room together, spending time suggesting clothes to the other, causing pranks aboard the ship and dancing together closer than most girls would have been comfortable. Their being together just...happens, and Katara, still much the homebody, takes care of half the chores and all of the cooking. She never expected the older woman to be the object of her affection, but who was she to know how relationships manifested?]

[The 31st century is far more open to homosexual relationships than the 21st century, so it was somewhat easy for Nura to start something with Katara. It started with movie dates, then came to a simple ceremony where Nura had to undergo a very strict talk by Katara's brother. Because boy or no, she was getting involved with Sokka's little sister.

Nura shares the cooking the schedule with Katara (although she avoids the cakes and the pasta dishes, due to the fact that she constantly somehow burns either dish), and the chores are not so hard when they work in tandem. They both train together, and spend special time alone.

Currently the older of the couple is at the kitchen stove, making eggs at early in the morning.]

Katara was always a girl living in the present: she believed that things could only get better when you made it happen, and that meant finding relationships that made you happy on your own. With Nura, it was a matter of realizing that the older woman GOT her, understood her to a point of them being able to finish each others sentence, and usually figure out the others wavelengths. As a result, Katara stayed with Nura, casually watching over her until Nura admitted her feelings too. After that, it was just talking Sokka out of dueling her and making him understand she was happy.

And she was, really. With them sharing everything, Katara felt relaxed, happy for once. There was nothing she was afraid to show Nura and she could always be honest with her.

"Oh, scrambled," Katara called, getting ready to go off to give more training exercises to the Outsiders. "Don't go to the trouble of getting elaborate, my breakfast shouldn't take too long!"

Nura finishes fixing breakfast and puts it on a plate. She sticks a fork in it and sets it on the table, followed by pouring them both some tea.

"Well you need to stay healthy for practice, so I added some peppers and a little tomato."

"Thanks! That will definitely energize me today. A lot of people wouldn't think so, but it actually really does give you pep to start the day."

Of course, the tea is decaffeinated and containing no sugar or milk: Iroh would have balked at such a thing. She leaned over and gave Nura a light kiss.

"Thanks! Gotta be ready for a mission soon. Oh...that reminds me!" She brought out a small box. "I got you something! Open it!"

"Oh, you didn't have to do that, Katara," Nura says sweetly, taking the box into her hands. She opens it and her face takes on a very pleased look -- and very happy. "It's gorgeous!"

It was a sapphire and diamond ring (http://www.sandracronan.com/uploads/products/sapphire_and_dia_swirl_cluster_ring.jpg), one that Katara painstakingly chosen out of several for Nura. Although Katara knew that she was fairly bad at choosing jewelry, she thought it would be something that Nura would like. The price hardly mattered to her of course: it WAS her wife, after all.

"Thank you," she said, flushing. "I thought it would look nice on you!"
