[It would be so much easier just to shut them off- every day the struggle to remember why she had to became more difficult. Feelings. Shit, emotions are hard. Maybe that was why she'd tethered herself to him, making Bruce the lifeline.

When he finally failed her, then she would at least have a good reason to abandon even the semblance of flesh.]

[He's in pain, and even in her induced state of purely logical thought, that's unacceptable. Her blink is a sign of humanity- the acknowledgment of human instinct rendered redundant; like flipping a switch in her brain, that veneer of humanity returns.]

[He's shaken and anxious, and not doing the usual thorough job of concealing it. One of his hands snakes around the back of her neck and he clings to her for dear life.]

[She feels the pressure there, but she's not looking at his face. It's his chest- the complex bullet-deterrent weave in gray and black. Practical, plain, and expensive as hell. He has expensive tastes, he drives fast cars, and although that hardly makes him unique, it's the fact that he has blue eyes that catches her attention.

It's a point of difference that she's known about for years now, but sometimes it still arrests her. Blue eyes; foreign yet familiar, whatever that means in her world... She cants her head to the side, ever so slightly, a movement he'd once jokingly called the 'cyborg head-tilt,' and touched his cheek with her hand.]

Bruce senses that he's being inspected, though on what quality he can't determine. His face sinks towards her touch, a simple but involuntary admission.
