Seven Minutes in Heaven Meme

[Glaring at this door forever. :| ]

::walks in, rather shocked::

Er Billy? Hi?

[Blink. Wow the world's after them today.]

Hey...you don't think it would be any use to attempt to break the door, would you?

::Katara observed the door, sizing it up and down, feeling it out with her hands and then giving it a good, stern hit at its weakest point. Her foot throbbed, but she hid it well.

"I don't think so, Billy."

[He nodded. She'd hit the right spot, and she was still far more powerful than he was. If she couldn't, he couldn't. Not without his gadgets, at least.]

I already tried the walls. We're likely trapped until the door has its way.

[If she can see him at all in the dark, he looks really apologetic about this.]

Katara shook her head. This reminded her all too much of a certain cave she'd been trapped in once before, and now she was kicking halfheartedly before admitting defeat.

"Well, um, now what then? How long do we stay on here?"

"The notice said 'seven minutes in heaven', though I could argue that 'seven minutes in hell' is more apt."

He slumped against the wall, rubbing his hand over his brow. "Do you know the term?"

Katara looked confused. "That place that Damion keeps saying everyone will go if they follow in that god of his, with the angels and stuff?"

She shrugged. "Does it means something different here?"

"That's the idea they're going for with the meaning, but we're not going to a literal heaven here. I''m almost positive that we'll emerge from this closet in perfect health."

Perfect happiness, though, couldn't be guaranteed. He looked uneasy for a minute, trying to stall the inevitable. She'd probably be angry.

"The idea is for the two in the closet to kiss passionately for a length of time, usually seven minutes but sometimes shorter."

"Oh." Well darn. "I had a feeling it would be like that. I was hoping the meaning was more literal. Honestly, why are people always trying to push us together anyway? You'd think a boy and a girl can't just be friends! Really!"

She took his hands, trying to steady him. "Are you all right?"

Billy smiled and shook his head. "The saturation of sexual tension makes our arrangement seem improbable."

But that's how they liked it, and it was just fine. This, though...he gently returned the hold on his hands.

"I'm worried. Even with our feelings as strictly platonic as they are, I didn't want to make things awkward for you."

Katara shook her head. "Oh, this ship cares a bit too much about sexual tension all the time. You're a mature boy, I'm a relatively mature girl. Why can't we just enjoy each other's company?"

Katara shook her head. Billy was sweet, but really, sometimes he gave her too little credit. "I can deal, Billy. I've been completely naked in front of Negi and been caught. A bit of kissing isn't going to make me melt."

Which was half a lie, but she knew what Billy was like: he needed to know he wasn't making her feel bothered.

"No matter how you phrase that, certain people will hear what they want to," Billy sighed with a far-off look.

Oh...yeah, she'd definitely had it rough before. He nodded sympathetically, then let out the tiniest of smiles. "It isn't? Guess I really am awful at it," he joked.

Okay, so maybe he could do this.

"Certain people can find better things to do," Katara insisted, looking cross. "People and their rumors. Don't they have better things to do?"

She nodded, and her hands went to him glasses, gently removing them. She was going to have to stand on her tiptoes anyhow, as she was still shorter.

"Close your eyes," she said.

"Apparently not better things that they like," he wondered aloud, blinking again when she slipped his glasses off. Oh, no wonder his previous (very limited) kissing experience had been awkward.

So she was going to guide him. Billy took in a breath, leaning downward just slightly before closing his eyes. His hands settled on her sides to keep them stable. "Ready."

Katara sighed. "You care a lot about what these people think, Billy. It was like I tried to tell you before: we know what we are, what we like. The only thing that matters is what WE think, what we know, ok?"

She smiled, then stood up and kissed Billy softly.

And when she says it that way, Billy can believe it.The last Katara will see of his face is an answering smile. "Right."

This wasn't so bad. Billy supported her with an arm, quickly adapting to the kiss. He could be soft, gentle, and careful easily.

The door would unlock at any second.

Katara knew Billy could be all of those things. She had seen the gentleness in him, had always said that he had it too. One day, feeling this kiss, she knew that Billy would make a person very happy to be with him. It was something that she loved about him, really, and she was sure Renne knew it too.

She leaned in a moment, and felt the door give away. She released him, smiling.

Billy's smile as they broke apart definitely reached his eyes. That really was all right, and he knew slightly more about kissing now. At least he'd remember to take his glasses off next time!

Speaking of them: "...maybe I shouldn't have worried. But may I have my glasses?"

She nodded and gave them back, smiling. "Sorry, I thought you needed that."

She hoped he was OK...she knew he was more awkward about this.

With a very faked scowl, Billy slipped them back over his ears. "Needed what?"

Don't let that fool you, he's definitely relieved to have survived and happy that their relationship is still not weird.
