It was pure luck that Kang happened to be in the area at the time. At least, for the kitten.

The wind howled outside the cave; all that could be seen was white. The blizzard had caught him completely by surprise, and he'd been forced to take shelter quickly. The cave had been relatively easy to find in the low foothills of the area, and apparently, someone else had used it recently, from the pit full of ashes and the leftover wood stacked against one wall. It was barely enough for one night, but hopefully that would be all Kang needed.

Shaking snow and ice off of his cloak and wings, he tossed his pack to the side and immediately started up a fire. He was already beginning to feel a bit too sluggish. After that was done, he sighed and sat down as close to the fire as possible, using his cloak as a cushion.

A faint sound from near his pack caught his attention, and frowning, he looked over, only to see nothing. Shrugging, he turned his attention to the wall of white outside. A few seconds later, the sound repeated, and was accompanied by the rustle of cloth.

This time, Kang saw something moving inside, making the cloth shift. Cautiously, he took out his dagger and pulled the pack over.

The dagger was set aside when he saw the shivering kitten trying to get into the bag of jerky. Its grey fur was wet with melted snow, and it shied away from his hand when he reached out for it. Carefully, he picked it up and took a closer look at it, "Seems I have some company."

The kitten squirmed, trying to get away from him; he shook his head with a wry snort, and after a moment of consideration, shaped a portion of the cloak near the fire into a nest of a sort and set it down, giving it a bit of the jerky and a gentle scritch behind the ears. He still didn't get the appeal of having a pet like some of the other races did, and would never own one himself, but he had warmed up slightly to cats ever since meeting Rhiow. There was no point in killing it, and no harm in sharing for the night.
