Human children were proving to be just as big a hassle as draconian children. Kang had been forced to break up a fight between Dean and Jamie - over playtime with Kaylee, of all things - and Jeka had disappeared somewhere.

Just like home.

Well, except for the fact that he couldn't pin them down to make them behave like he could his own kids.

He felt a tug on his wing, and guessing immediately who it was, he looked down. Kaylee, just as he thought. She was fascinated by his wings, and while he'd at least gotten it through to her to leave certain parts of them alone, she kept fixating on the appendages.

"I wanna go flying!"

Kang sighed and knelt down to her level, "I told you before, I can't fly."

"But then why do you have wings if you can't fly?" Dean piped up from nearby.

"Aye, it's silly."

"I don't know, I just do. I promise, if I really could, I'd take you flying, Kaylee."

She tugged lightly on his wing one more time, pouting, and went back to the little model engine he'd found for her to play with. Jamie plopped down next to her, asking her to show him how it worked. Seconds later, Dean sat himself on the other side of the girl, clearly intending on stealing some her attention away from the other boy.

Seeing that the human children were occupied, Kang smiled to himself, ignoring the little pang that went through him, and continued to search for Jeka. How the hell could he have lost a snake as large as her?
