That's right folks, it's now time to see how exactly Ten Years on the the Love BoatGood Ship LollipopGilligan's Island Stacy has gone by for your characters.
Ronnae, well she hadn't changed much, at least physically, due to her elven heritage. It would take a few more decades for her to reach adulthood. Her personality however had begun healing thanks to her caring lover and her friendships. The children where a huge boost in her emotional state as well.
She was more active and her bright and sunny disposition was more apparent. Her shyness was still very much there, specially if caught off guard with key subjects and affectionate surprises. However she had also become more daring, her mother's influence starting to shine a bit more. Cocky at times and maybe even a bit flirty with those she was comfortable with, she was more open with her affection than before.
By this point in time she was well versed in a slew of tech from different worlds, being the perfectionist she is known to be in engineering, she had taken upon herself to be the best at everything available to her as far as engineering went.
Anwei tried to keep her ties with Engineering open; she never knew when she would want to build some interesting new device and need their help. She'd admitted to herself a long time ago that she was better at knowing about things than knowing things; that she could remember that X device could be built, but not how to build it.
The main disadvantage to dealing with the people here is they insisted on her talking in complete sentences, instead of in Medical who she could just mumble at.
"How far did you get with the thallium cubes?" Those had been interesting: solid metal to all their scans, but they ticked. And when you sawed one in half, both halves started ticking. She'd finally given up and let Ronnae investigate them, and she was curious what had been found.
Ronnae turned in her chair and smiled at Anwei. She was always happy to see engineering's crew specially those who were as dedicated as Anwei. Not to mention she was always looking to lend a hand and bring in new discoveries.
She pointed to a few datapads she had modified using the thallium cubes. "I'm still unsure about their full properties, but their potential to improve out electronics is really neat. I'm working on some other projects using it, but I'm really enjoying the experimentation in general!"
She passed on a notepad she took out of her desk and handed it to Anwei.
"Those are my notes so far, you're free to keep that copy~" she replied cheerily.
"I'm glad," she said, accepting the notepad. "Thought they were interesting when I picked them up as toys." For all she knew they were toys, meant to teach children how to work on electronics.
"Oh, all right," she said, scratching at the back of her neck. This was Having a Conversation. "Doing a lot of software work in the Hangar, mostly. We don't need another Super-EMP going off in there and wiping half the ships out."
That had been especially embarassing, since it had been a new podpod's ship that had set off the weapon, in a panic at not being able to detect her pilot.
"That sounds like it would have made quite a lot of the pilots quite agravated." she replied with a slight whistle. A few of the pilots were a bit hot headed, specially when it came to their crafts.
"Guess you had a lot of both re-programing and diplomacy to do huh?" she chuckled lightly.
"Family's fine actually, the twins haven't driven Billy up the wall yet so that's good." she smirked. "They're quite energetic, and clever to boot. They like trying to find new ways to outsmart us and get away with things."
"Numbers are important!" she mused back. "Specially when the vast majority of people don't like having to deal with numbers."
"Yeah, they prolly will." she said proudly. "I'm really happy they've been able to adapt so quickly to life on board. It really puts me at ease when it was one of my main concerns."
"That's how I keep my job." Stay at a terminal where it's safe, make yourself valuable enough that you won't be called on to fight - it had worked for ten years. It could work for ten more, probably. Either that or they all died, in which case she wouldn't have to worry about being safe.
"Going to be hard for them to leave." People still talked like that; like someday the war would be over and everyone would go home. She couldn't see that happening.
"They like it here... Even if it took me so long to get used to this place and not hate it, they found it to be their home, and they wouldn't trade it." She smiled a bit bittersweetly. "It's a bit refreshing to see such innocence..."
When Anwei had been that age, she'd been a semi-sentient ape gnawing at the bars of her cage and endlessly fighting with her carnivorous sisters. The concepts of 'childhood' and 'innocence' did not combine well in her mind.
"I talked with Alex once - you remember him, Alex Furest and Alice? About what Stacy could do after the war was over." Lies, lies, it would never be over...shut up. "Maybe she could go to your dimension, somewhere where your family could visit." In orbit around Billy's Earth, maybe?
Ronnae nodded, "I remember Alex, I miss him lots. He was a really nice guy." She looked up, thinking about the possibility of regaining their planets and visiting.
"I'd really like them to meet the rest of their families. I really would." Not to mention she missed them immensely herself...
"Maybe we can convince the Daligig to give us Stacy, in lieu of back pay," she joked. "Teach her to time-skip, and she could visit anyone she pleased."
"If the Daligig were ever to pay this crew for all the back pay they owe us, they'd need to give us a fleet of Stacy's" she joked back with a hearty giggle.
Of course, as soon as she'd been capable of devices worthy of the Overlord, he'd started pestering her. And of course, since she had a pretty good line on the Overlord's true nature, especially after HIS travails in the course of 10 years (as detailed elsewhere!), she knew exactly how mad he wasn't.
"Hyaaa ha ha ha ha ha! Soon my reign of terror will be complete!" Yeah, that's just the sort of thing he still says.
"Oh yeah, that reminds me." He reached into his cloak and produced from it a wrapped package. "I'm still gonna try to make the birthday party, but if I don't, now no one can complain I didn't get your rugrat anything."
Ronnae chuckled a bit, "Just make sure your reign of terror isn't too terrifying."
She smiled, taking the package gently before looking up with an appreciative gaze. "Thanks Zetta. I'm sure they'll be happy to see you. You should visit some time yanno."
"Hey, I have PLENTY of things to do! I can't be dropping by every other day so they can annoy me with all that 'Uncle Zetta' crap you filled their heads with!"
He looked annoyed and indignant for a moment.
"But I'll see if I can clear up some time tomorrow."
"Yeah, someday you really need to explain that 'evil demon Overlord' thing to them again," Zetta said. "And this time, NOT in terms of how I'm so much stronger than the monster under the bed that they don't need to be afraid because I'd kick that monster's ass if anything happened to them."
"I'm sure they'll believe that whole 'evil' part with the way you act around them." she said with a playful grin. "Can't change a hero into a villain into their eyes unless you personally saw to it. And I'm convinced you'd never do such." she added with a smile.
"Why wouldn't I! They're not ready for real weapons, yet anyways." she said crossing her arms. "Even then, I don't think they'll be the heavy armed types to begin with Zetta."

That is, if there was anything to visit.
