That's right folks, it's now time to see how exactly Ten Years on the the Love BoatGood Ship LollipopGilligan's Island Stacy has gone by for your characters.
She remembers those and not with any great degree of fondness, either. Horrid, irritating things. She'd been all for tossing them out the nearest airlock, but of course the idiots had insisted that they mustn't kill.
She was never going to understand why so many people aboard this ship had hangups about killing people.
"It has been rather quiet of late. I suppose that means we're due for another horrific accident."
Zouichi had a unique perspective on death that he didn't quite share with most of the crew; while his mission had originally been to preserve human life, that umbrella did not extend to anyone he deemed an enemy or an obstacle. In any way.
Therefore, he'd been solidly on Team Airlock, although he'd managed to maintain his position with a little more tact than Ildraniath had. Honestly, no matter what they looked like, they were plants. Extremely annoying, nonsentient plants.
"Or overdue for said horrific incident. In any case, I've been filling the time in one way or another. Speaking of which: the plum trees at the inn should be blooming soon. I think they should be very lovely this year, if you'd care to come visit.
"And what about you? Anything interesting happen lately?"
"Nothing of note. Even after a decade, I still find it frustrating that I cannot read the threads of the future as I used to. It is like being blind after being able to see for so long..."
She shrugged. Nothing really noteworthy had happened to her. Not lately, anyway.
"Oh? I'm surprised to hear you say that." Copping to her frustration, acknowledging a feeling of vulnerability? Maybe ten years had been a little longer than he'd thought.
"I think you manage quite well without it, though." He held out one hand; as if on a signal, a brilliantly-colored parrot swooped down from its perch atop one of the nearby trees, landing neatly on his wrist. He offered it a sunflower seed; Alastirra had been gracious enough to give him some from her garden earlier. Alan took it in his beak in one delicate motion, as he did the next seed Zouichi held out.
"Then I'll save you a spot. The best time to see them is at night, of course, but I'm sure I don't have to tell you that." In the evenings, the trees in the courtyard were were lit from below, giving them a ghostly, ethereal cast quite different from their appearance in the daytime. But with his sleep schedule, Zouichi was usually the only person around to enjoy them. Alas. You get ghosts haunting your house one time, and no one wants to visit ever again.
