That's right folks, it's now time to see how exactly Ten Years on the the Love BoatGood Ship LollipopGilligan's Island Stacy has gone by for your characters.
Kaylee had long-since stopped working in the tavern. There were always new things popping up in Engineering, and with a husband to manage and a baby on the way, the tavern was just one extra thing she couldn't quite keep up with. She still dropped in whenever she had the chance, to give Kang his much-needed teasing.
The mechanic patted her swollen belly--getting up toward that eighth month already--and happily made her way toward Kang's chair.
"Isn't that what you should be doing?" Kang grinned, patting the seat next to him and nodding at her belly. "How can you even walk with that? You're huge already."
"Probably, but they won't exactly let me do anythin' in Engineering, and you know me..." Always up and about. Still, she does waddle over to take the chair next to Kang with a smile. "Best watch it, girl could take that huge bit the wrong way... But it surprises me, too. Can't even see my feet anymore. Feel like if Stacy tips sideways I'm gonna roll straight down the core."
Kang snorted, "You know I'd never call you fat, Kaylee. Is Dean still worrying about being a father, or have you finally gotten through to him that he'll do fine?" He had no doubt of it, the way the man acted around other kids, and Kali when she was younger.
It was hard to keep a straight face, and Kaylee ended up just laughing in agreement. "I know you wouldn't, but if you would, it could'a been taken that way." In that lovely backwards way of Stacy-crew. "But I got a feelin' Dean's gonna worry all the way through and beyond. He says he thinks he'll be alright, but I got eyes. I catch the worried glimpses he shoots around."
"Have you met him, Kang? How long did it take to convince him just that gettin' married was an alright idea? He won't let this one go by easy neither."
"We all just need to keep working on him. He'll get it, eventually." Kang leaned back comfortably. "He should be relieved he won't have to deal with more than one."
"Exactly." Kaylee pushed herself carefully out of the chair and walked behind the counter to hunt down a glass of water. "I'm relieved there's only one, if nothin' else. Don't think I'd ever be able to roll myself outta bed if there were more'n that."
Kang let out a short growl, but he didn't get up, "You could have asked me to do that for you. Fon and I aren't sure how many she's going to have this time; it's too early to tell."
"Could have," Kaylee agreed, "but didn't. Gotta do somethin' on my own every now and again. Dean frets worse'n a mother hen." Glass of water retrieved, she headed back for the table. "How many's normal per round?"
"Because I know better than to piss off a female by fussing over her too much. I learned that lesson years ago. I like having all my limbs attached," Kang grinned. "We aren't sure. Kali has three siblings, and the other girls had somewhere between three and eight, so we're figuring somewhere in that range."
