Second Chance Meme!

Okay, rocks fell, everyone died. Too bad, valiant meatshippers! But the good news is that you've all be reincarnated!

...as baseline humans on modern Earth.

Maybe you're waiting at a coffee shop, and you spot someone out of the corner of your eye that looks strangely familiar. Maybe instead of strangers from universes far apart, you and your close CR are now childhood friends who have always been together. Maybe you meet a former enemy as a friend, or a former friend is now a bitter enemy.

Are you a college student? A high-powered lawyer? A kindhearted schoolteacher?

What would your life have been like had you been born under different circumstances, and you met your fellow crew once again? If you had a second chance? Would you still fall into the same habits, be a victim of the same misfortunes? or would you use the opportunity to be someone completely different?

1. Post with your character, or tag someone else.
2. Set up the scenario you want to explore!
3. ???
4. Meme!

She glances up as the young man approaches, and deliberately keeps herself still in her seat. Her parents had always disapproved of her socializing with anyone who was not like them: rich, well-bred, and above all - white.

They would absolutely freak if they saw her sitting here among the 'riff raff.' Good.

She wasn't wearing her overly intimidating interview suit; instead she was just business casual today. She probably looked enough like an older student that she could blend in. So she gives him a smile, the slightly over-wide smile of someone who has had their braces removed and is enjoying the sensation of a metal-free mouth.

"No," she says, moving her laptop a little bit to one side and reflexively closing the screen - not that there was anything more interesting on it than some code. "I'm just visiting the campus, doing some work with the computer lab."

She shrugs faintly, then frowned for an instant. Something seemed familiar about the line of this young man's nose - no? No, she couldn't have met him.

It was just traveling. Three nights in one city, two weeks in another, living out of bags, knowing the layout of every hotel chain's rooms well enough to find everything in the dark. Not a life that gave you time to sit down and get acquainted with anyone. You saw so many faces, and never saw any of them again.

"Oh, there's nothing wrong in the labs. They're just upgrading some of the hardware, and hired me to help port over the software." A more natural smile. "If the campus email systems go down, try not to blame me too hard. That would probably be the fiber-optic network's fault, not mine...."

She considers opening up her laptop and checking the work schedule again, but decided against it. It would be rude. She thought.
