Okay, rocks fell, everyone died. Too bad, valiant meatshippers! But the good news is that you've all be reincarnated!

...as baseline humans on modern Earth.

Maybe you're waiting at a coffee shop, and you spot someone out of the corner of your eye that looks strangely familiar. Maybe instead of strangers from universes far apart, you and your close CR are now childhood friends who have always been together. Maybe you meet a former enemy as a friend, or a former friend is now a bitter enemy.

Are you a college student? A high-powered lawyer? A kindhearted schoolteacher?

What would your life have been like had you been born under different circumstances, and you met your fellow crew once again? If you had a second chance? Would you still fall into the same habits, be a victim of the same misfortunes? or would you use the opportunity to be someone completely different?

"Souls are overrated," he said, dropping the file on his desk as he reached into a drawer. Not for a weapon, just for a bottle of scotch. "And you think I don't know that? I'm not gonna keep the good stuff in a file cabinet."

"Eh, was just curious." he said with a shrug. "I'd already found the drawer's false bottom and you took five minutes longer than I thought."

He paused, looked back into the desk drawer, then frowned.

"Huh. That's a bit awkward."

But he grinned after a moment. "But it doesn't matter to me, kid. There's nothing I can't survive. No one cares about this crap. They just want a chance to feel better about their own lousy lives, and pretend like they're some fine, upstanding citizen. So long as I give 'em what they want, anything you dig up'll just blow over."

"Well yeah, I figured. We're, what, 4 years before your current term is up? Plenty of time to push this under the carpet. Assuming I let the cat out of the bag now."

There was an obvious smirk underneath the mask.

"Gives me less time to plan for it if you do it," Zeke said, pouring the scotch as if he hadn't a care in the world. "Assuming I don't already have plans."

"We both know you already have plans. You wouldn'tve been in place this long if you didn't." He said, walking to the window, "Anyways, been wasting your time long enough. Be seeing you." The Spider jumped, webline launching out to give him a rope to swing away by.

"...Points for style on the exit, I guess," he said, looking back down to his desk thoughtfully. Time to get a new hiding spot, clearly.

Today's mistake, as he drank the scotch: trusting too much to the naive idiocy of the do-gooders. Looks like he'll be spending a long night in the office...
