Second Chance Meme!

Okay, rocks fell, everyone died. Too bad, valiant meatshippers! But the good news is that you've all be reincarnated!

...as baseline humans on modern Earth.

Maybe you're waiting at a coffee shop, and you spot someone out of the corner of your eye that looks strangely familiar. Maybe instead of strangers from universes far apart, you and your close CR are now childhood friends who have always been together. Maybe you meet a former enemy as a friend, or a former friend is now a bitter enemy.

Are you a college student? A high-powered lawyer? A kindhearted schoolteacher?

What would your life have been like had you been born under different circumstances, and you met your fellow crew once again? If you had a second chance? Would you still fall into the same habits, be a victim of the same misfortunes? or would you use the opportunity to be someone completely different?

"Uh." You'd think how often he gets caught doing this sort of thing, Matty'd have an on-hand answer for that. "Tribin' this shit up, duh."

Zouichi glares at him. "Well, stop it. Do you know how long it takes people to clean up after you after you're done tagging whatever it is you want?"

"That's why they shouldn't ace it, duh." He glances at Zouichi's bag. "Wait, you an art student?"

He shifts his bag a little on his shoulder. "Yeah. Why?"

"Me too, yo! Where you think I got these mad skills?" He pulls his own sketchbook out of his bag.

He looks at Punchy like he's bonkers. "If you're an art student, what are you doing tagging?"

But he takes the book anyway.

It's filled with superheroes and designs for toys, along with the occasional not-so-tasteful nude, but it's clearly something he's put incalculable hours of love and effort into. He's not untalented, either. The toy designs especially look nearly professional-level.

"What? This is art!" And he does know his way around a spray can. "Besides, I got booted from school. Can I see yours?"

"...oh." He can kind of see why. "Sure, here you go."

He hands his sketchbook over; Punchy's work actually is pretty good. Zouichi's contains a lot of landscapes, a bunch of model sketches, and interestingly enough, some manga illustrations (which he usually keeps out from under the disapproving eyes of his professors).

"You're not bad. You should try to get some work as a penciller or something."

Not defacing public property.

Matty has no interest in landscapes, but he recognizes manga style for what it is, and Zouichi's apparently pretty good.

"You mean like comics? That'd be dope, but nah, none of the big houses will give me a peep. What you wanna do, like, illustration? This one here's pretty sick." He points out one of Zouichi's manga illustrations. "You could do covers or animation or some shit."

"They won't?" Zouichi blinks. "Why not? You're better than Greg Land already."

"It'd be nice if I could do some illustration. But I'd be happy with most anything, as long as I got to keep drawing." He pauses. "Although I guess it'd get boring drawing the same things all the time. That's what happens if you have to work for an advertising firm, or, say, medical illustration."

"Aw, man, fuck that jackwagon. Douchebag traces everything from skinnies. Not even good skinnies." Matty looks outright indignant at this, as if tracing is a crime equal to punching homeless people or selling your child on eBay.

"I got a friend who works in a botany lab drawing shit. They make her draw the same plants over and over. I keep telling her she should get a job just doing what she loves, but you know." He shrugs. "She ain't trying to hear me. Don't know why."

Because clearly Punchy exudes the attitude of someone who knows what he's doing in his life.

Zouichi nodded. Weirdly enough, he completely agreed with Punchy on the subject of tracing. Ugh.

"Hmm. What is it that she wants to do? If she likes plants that much, she could become a field botanist, discover new ones, sketch her findings..."

"She don't want to leave the city. Says I'd never kick it without her." Of course, Matty knows better - Flora won't leave because she doesn't think she's good enough to hack it, even if he believes in her. "Hey, anyway, bet she'd get on with you like besties, right? You wanna come over to my place, toke up a blunt and meet her?"

If he's not evicted by tonight, that is, but Matty sees nothing wrong with inviting TOTAL STRANGERS over to his apartment. "'Sides, I got some sick inks that'd make backgrounds like this pop," he says, gesturing to some of Zouichi's art again.

Zouichi frowns a little. "A blunt?"

But he nods anyway. "Sure, she sounds like a nice person. And I'm always up for trying new supplies."

"Dope!" he says, either in excitement or answering Zouichi's question, cramming the spraycan back in his jacket and heading for the bus stop, expecting Zouichi to follow.
