Second Chance Meme!

Okay, rocks fell, everyone died. Too bad, valiant meatshippers! But the good news is that you've all be reincarnated!

...as baseline humans on modern Earth.

Maybe you're waiting at a coffee shop, and you spot someone out of the corner of your eye that looks strangely familiar. Maybe instead of strangers from universes far apart, you and your close CR are now childhood friends who have always been together. Maybe you meet a former enemy as a friend, or a former friend is now a bitter enemy.

"I haven't been social either, to be honest. But I've met great people in the Engineering school. I'm meeting another one right now, actually."

How did he guess she would choose the strawberry juice?

"It's been a long time since I've had one," Will answered, smiling faintly. "Sure!"

She thought for a moment before a blush rose on her cheeks as she processed the comment.

"T-thanks... I'm n-not that great but I do work really hard~"

She took some ice cream from her freezer and lopped a nice big scoop, placing it on his drink and smiling. It looked so good~! She'd make herself one later.

Once the blender stopped, she poured herself her strawberry smoothie and grabbed both drinks, heading to the living room with a smile.

"Take a seat, they're really comfy~ I guess I can't really complain about the furniture... this place was definitely made for someone with money." Much unlike her.

She shrugged and sat on the long, comfy couch and relaxed, placing a straw on her and his drink and laying a spoon on a clean plate that sat on the small table in front of the couch.

"Hope you enjoy it~" She mused happily as she took a sip of her drink.

"And working hard makes greatness!"

Will wasn't quite used to material comforts either. He rushed to help her with the glasses, of course, but looked a little awkward in the large plush seating. It was nothing like the workbench he called home.

One sip confirmed: "I do, it's great. Thanks again, Ronnae."

He thought to himself as they enjoyed their drinks. All this comfort...didn't seem like the environment she would feel best in.

"Then I suppose I shouldn't show you my place. It's essentially nothing more than a glorified workshop, parts everywhere."

"That actually sounds like a perfect hang out spot. Gears, grease, parts, the whirling, buzzing, sizzling sounds of machines working to make great things~" She said happily, almost in awe.

A small giggle escaped her lips before she took another sip. "It'd be pretty cool if I could set up a small workshop here. But it's against the rules and such."

"They require a minimum level of cleanliness?"

Will wrinkled his nose. That sounded like a place he never wanted to live in. Who needed all that when you could have grease?

"I love it too. You can visit the workshop whenever you want, actually---there's always room for more, and you probably have ideas I'd never think of."

He sipped his float happily, confident that this was true.

"Hey, great minds can produce great things right? That's why everyone wanted the best scientists and inventors on their side." She smiled, enjoying the moment she was having with this once complete stranger who came to her rescue. It's odd how life works doesn't it? And yet, it all feels very right.

"Exactly."

Will finally seemed relaxed. He looked around the area curiously, searching for more clues about his new study partner.

"What kinds of projects are your favorites, then? Do you have anything you've always wanted to work on?"

The room definitely seemed to have been designed for a more wealthy crowd, specially judging from the style of clothing she wore, or the way her backpack had a lot of anime or cartoon patches covering it. But it had also seemed as if she had put a little bit more of herself into the apartment, little by little.

Small figures from anime or comics decorated some corners, even a full sized cute anime girl was in the corner saluting the guests that entered the room. There were a few sketchpads around the room as well as a small amount of art supplies.

"Robotics," she said as she idly sipped on her smoothie. "I really love robotics, engines, that sorta stuff." Her eyes shifted towards him and she blushed. She wasn't used to company at all.

Will thought it was...adorable. Well suited to someone like her---clean, but cute. He caught himself smiling at one of the drawings before returning to the conversation, plucking something from his pack.

"So do I, actually," he agreed, showing a drawing of a little humanoid-shaped robot. "I've always thought it was fascinating to build something so complex. My other passion is communications technology, and to be able to construct one I could talk to...that would be incredible."

"Cute~!" she exclaimed as she looked at it, eyes studying it eagerly. "Same! All the amazing things they'd be capable of, the complexity of all the parts individually and the awesomeness of all of them working in unison. The possibilities are endless!" Yeah, you got her talking for sure.

She smiled, moving some hair from her face as she takes another sip of her drink.

Will had to smile---both at her hair and her excited voice. That was just like him at times, wasn't it?

"No, I'm pretty sure your drawings are cuter. You bring all the elements together there as well."

"I try~" She teased as she stuck her small tongue out at him playfully.

"I really like drawing, that and dancing would have been my second choices had I not had such a love for building. I'm also trying to learn how to play some musical instruments, I think I'm leaning more towards the flute or clarinet. Haven't decided yet much to my instructors dismay." A small laugh escaped her lips as she rubbed the back of her head embarrassed.

Will had to raise his eyebrows at that. There he was, just tinkering away, and she had so many talents to share. Wow.

"They're both beautiful instruments, I'm sure you'll be great with whatever you choose. And...wow, how do you manage so many talents? I can hardly handle the few I have."

"Kind of come with being sheltered..." Her voice grew soft as she swirled the last of her drink around in her cup.

"Didn't have much in the form of friends, so I didn't really go out other than to my parent's backyard to 'explore'. So I took on things I could do in the privacy of my room."

Will felt a longing to help her that he couldn't quite explain. That sounded sad, so he took another sip and brought himself closer.

"I was the same. Once I'd developed a talent in machinery, no one wanted a geek anyway. So I went back into studying science, and it developed into a self-reinforcing loop. And...now I'm out here, somehow."

"You seem to be doing well at least. I mean, I didn't have much time to get a good look, but unless you're a ruffian, tampering with the parks equipment, I take it you were working on it right? And besides, you don't look THAT geeky." She mused with a small giggle as her cheeks suddenly flushed. She tried to play it off by drinking the last bits of her drink and idly playing with the bits of strawberry at the bottom.

Ooooo great way to conversate Ronnae. Hittin' on your hero an' all that. TOTALLY cliche'd bravo girl *clap clap* Yeah... she wanted to punch her inner thoughts right about now.

Billy shook his head. "Of course not! I wouldn't risk messing with the park equipment. I was attempting to build a weather reporting and prediction device that could be used by people in charge of events there. Much of my work was smashed by the attackers, but I shouldn't have too much trouble recovering it from the blueprints."

In other words, it wasn't her fault and never would be. He ruffled his hair with a little blush at that last announcement, though---huh? How did he not look geeky?

"...not geeky in what way? Too messy?"

"Well.. for one, you're not scrawny, you don't wear glasses that are too big for your head, and you don't wear your pants as if they were huggin' your chest. You know, the stereotype." Not to mention appealing to the eyes...

Ronnae blushed and shook her head. "Kinda like me yanno, I don't look it, but my mannerisms give me away. And the fact I'm kind of a loner and all that. Socially awkward."

Will really blushed upon hearing all of that. No one had ever called him attractive before, what was this nonsense?

"Are you sure you don't have me confused with the fashion models in magazines? If anyone belongs in those pages, it's you."

What was he even saying?

"W-what? N-no, definitely not for me. I did get offered a spot for a fashion magazine, but papa almost flipped. And r-really, it's just not the lifestyle for me at all... I'd be taking anxiety pills twenty-four seven!"

She did her best to cover her face with her hair as she blushed heavily.

"B-but no really, you are attractive, like those people you'd see posing in the 'Office type' models you see on those billboards advertising like suits or the hot nerdy types...." She was glad she was looking down, cause at the last statement, she almost choked realizing she was speaking what was on her mind out loud instead of stopping where she had wanted to stop.

She hoped her voice had been low enough that he'd missed it...

"I can see how the pressure would mount," Will agreed, "but you really are pretty."

Not him, damnit! He was turning redder the longer she went on, wondering if he was really hearing what he thought he was hearing. He was. Him, an office model? It just...it would have to be seen to be believed.

"I'm not going to believe this hypothesis until it's tested," Will finally sad, not believing he was suggesting this. "Do you have a camera, by any chance?"

Ronnae looked up at him curiously, the blush still clearly there.

"Ummm y-yeah I do actually. One sec, I'll go get it."

What did he want the camera for was beyond her at the moment, too glad to be taking a leave to calm her face from blushing so much.

Her form disappeared into a corridor, and after a few minute she was back with a digital camera.

"This is all I have. It was a birthday present back when I really liked taking pictures of things. Now I take them for reference and see if I can bring out new life by drawing them."

Will approved! She looked much better when she returned, and he was happy to have had the chance to calm down as well. "Oh, you're doing life drawings? That's great, I'd love to see them."

But that wasn't what his message was about. "Okay, so we have the camera. My apartment isn't far---it's just off the contraption shop. I'm going to grab a suit from there and we'll see if I really am model material."

Ronnae looked at him for a few moments before giggling, nodding at him afterward. "That sounds like a good plan, sure! Soooo here, there, where are we taking the photo?"

Why was she so comfortable around him? Maybe cause they seemed to share interests? He seemed like a genuinely nice guy but... A lot of jerks had seem like genuinely nice guys at first...

"I thought I was going to come back here, but we could try the grassy area next to my garage if that would be easier. You can bring something to model if you'd like."

Will couldn't believe he was doing all this. Really? Some play-modeling for a girl he'd just met? A very kind, very sweet, and very appealing one for that matter, but...it still boggled the mind.
