Okay, rocks fell, everyone died. Too bad, valiant meatshippers! But the good news is that you've all be reincarnated!

...as baseline humans on modern Earth.

Maybe you're waiting at a coffee shop, and you spot someone out of the corner of your eye that looks strangely familiar. Maybe instead of strangers from universes far apart, you and your close CR are now childhood friends who have always been together. Maybe you meet a former enemy as a friend, or a former friend is now a bitter enemy.

Are you a college student? A high-powered lawyer? A kindhearted schoolteacher?

What would your life have been like had you been born under different circumstances, and you met your fellow crew once again? If you had a second chance? Would you still fall into the same habits, be a victim of the same misfortunes? or would you use the opportunity to be someone completely different?

"Sounds great," Tenaya answered. "I haven't eaten yet, actually."

"Coming right up," Will promised, promptly making some clattering noises back in the food storage area. After some wrestling with plates and glasses, he managed to come out and present his goods: milk, several sandwiches, and the obligatory cookie.

"Are you feeling well otherwise?"

"Thanks," Tenaya said, taking a glass and plate from him.

"A lot better, now that my eyes aren't giving me so many problems. It's going to be a little while before I can look at a computer without squinting or getting a headache, though."

Will was already ahead of the curve. He took up his own snacks, already remembering what he'd thought of for Tenaya's problem.

"I can upgrade your screen reader. I know it still trips on a few words, but with some tweaks and an improved input system you should be able to compute without using your eyes."

He smiled. "And in the meantime, I'm always willing to be a seeing eye dog."

"Thanks," Tenaya answered. It still irked her to have to ask for help, but she'd known Will long enough to know that he did this on his own. And she did need it.

"Any time. I also have a beta version of the program that can read papers and books, so I'll be handing that over today. It was an interesting challenge---just tell me if it starts to read about the tropics close to the equator. It kept doing that to me for some reason."

Will sighed, nibbling on his own cookie. "Have you thought about things you want to see?"

"No problem," Tenaya answered. "Especially since I'm supposed to be doing my Euro homework."

She shrugged as she sipped her milk. "I'm not really sure. I guess I never really let myself think about it, with not expecting to lose my sight and then get it back."

"Then I'll finish with it and bring it out as soon as possible. I remember what that homework was like."

Will continued his quiet thoughts, wondering just what he could show her. "Then we can see a number of things. How about a motorcycle tour at sunrise or sunset?"

"Sounds good to me," Tenaya agreed. "Though you've got to drive. Next on my list is to get my license--though probably after 'don't give the instructor a heart attack.'"

"I can do that. It's been too long since I've had the chance to ride a motorcycle, actually."

Will was all ready for that. He laughed right into his drink. "I've never known you to slow down, Tenaya. I know it'll be difficult."

"They wouldn't make cars go that fast if you weren't supposed to," she teased.

"You might just be a professional racecar driver in the making," Will teased right back. "I'd be at every race."

That would definitely be something worth seeing. In the meantime, though, they had other things to take care of. "Anyway, I should probably be working on your order by now."

"I'd win every time, of course," Tenaya pointed out.

"Thanks for everything," she said sincerely. "Don't know where I'd be without your help."

"Without a doubt," Will agreed, reaching over to gently cuff her on the shoulder.

"You'd be fine---you're strong like that, Tenaya. I actually think I'd be lost without you around here."

"Well, if someone was going to keep us sane, I guess it was going to have to be each other," Tenaya pointed out. "Who else would be crazy enough to take the job?"
