Somehow, Ronnae's kiss made him believe that everything could be okay. And her protection helped him to take a risk...he'd have his strength with her, just in case. The calculations that suggested it should be impossible for him to fly with such lightweight wings still raced through his mind, but this wasn't quite a normal situation. He could take the risk of disregarding them this time.

He walked to the edge and nodded when she reached the ground, brushing a finger over one of his feathers. How was something so delicate and soft going to sustain him---magic, he guessed. If it didn't, he'd be rescued and healed. And there was always the backup plan as well. He plucked the power coin from his morpher, tucking it within his fist. In an emergency, a split-second morph would save him. What it would do to the wings was unknown, but at least he would live.

"I'm ready," he called over the edge, taking a step back. Then it was time to step forward. Once, twice, with a dive over the edge.

The air pounded his chest, his racing heart straining against it as well. Freefall like this was fascinating to study as the test subject, but the uncertainty bothered him. It bothered him very much, but the decision had already been made. He was going to land in excruciating pain or...

...fly. His wings spread at the same moment a crackle of blue light appeared in his hand, a spark of light activating what was almost an instinct. At the same moment he narrowly missed Ronnae, he disappeared in a white flash, reappearing considerably higher up in his Ranger uniform. The back of the costume had remodeled itself to include wing holes, allowing him to continue on with the glide. A flap or two brought him up---tilting this way was a turn---yes, maybe this was working!

He circled back, discarding the helmet and extending a gloved hand. "Phew, made it."
