So his world was gone. Not by an act of the Anti-Spirals, but of these 'Ohm'. And he'd been chosen to help with the fight to stop these nasty bugs. And there was a chance they'll get their worlds back if they win.

Well. Any chance was as good as a sure thing to Simon, so he was definitely agreeable to the cause. It'd be a bit odd to go back to being under a leader rather than being one, but it shouldn't be too hard, he hoped.

For now, though, he'll be polishing up Lagann. He'd found the small 'bot with a good bit of dust on it from inactivity, and that just wouldn't stand. Even Boota was helping out, clearing up some dust in the crevices of the cockpit that Simon couldn't reach.

SLAM. Something went bang as a cursing came from the inside of Gurren. Kamina poked his head out of it and yelled, "HEY SIMON! Where's all the rags? I can't find anything I left in here!"

Of course it was bloodstain free, thankfully, but Kamina was cheesed off. He couldn't really find anything that he had in the cockpit before the last time he used it.

"And who's been mucking with Gurren anyhow while I was taking my dirt nap? Please tell me it wasn't Kittan or that creep-factor mechanic of ours."

Simon raised up, blinking up at the cockpit of the larger Gunmen as he thought. "...I don't really remember. I think I took most of the stuff you had in it and kept it, save for your sword and cape. We left those on your grave." Then he scratched his head. "Well, there's no telling what point in time Gurren got pulled from, so it could've been a number of people... Rossiu, Yoko, Kinon, Viral..."

...oh yeah, Kamina doesn't know about Viral's heel-face-turn yet, does he?

"Glad that Stacy thing managed to save my cape and sword then," grumbled Kamina, ducking his head back into the cockpit -- and slamming it against the wall in surprise as he ducked back out.

"VIRAL!? What the hell was VIRAL doing in MY GURREN?! SIMON WHAT THE... I DON'T EVEN... HUH?!"

Simon chuckled awkwardly at the comment regarding the sword and cape, then sighed when Kamina wigged out. "We were facing the end of the world - literally, and I needed a second pilot. Rossiu had taken off to do his own thing, and everyone else had their own Gunmen. He was willing to lend a hand to fight the Anti-Spirals, so I figured why not? And on the off-chance he was to turn on us, he'd be close by."

"Ugh. I hope he didn't shed in here or something," groused Kamina, going back in. He really had no energy to being over the top at the moment, and really, this whole situation was one big facepalm after another.

"Wait, Yoko piloted Gurren?"

That got another laugh out of Simon. "I don't know if Beastmen shed, bro."

After moving around to Lagann's side, Boota popped up from the seat area, looking victorious in his quest - and quite dusty. The pigmole coughed a bit, but gave Simon his best approximation of a thumbs-up. "Good job, Boota - thanks."

The question made him pause and think. "Yeah, once, during a fight with one of the other Generals..."

"Huh. So she had enough Fighting Spirit for it. That's actually kinda nice to hear..." He trailed off in thought. The last time he saw Yoko she was... well, yeah.

"Sorry I don't have much energy, Simon. I'm just tired for one reason or another." Having come out weak as a kitten was definitely a downside for this whole podding thing. He didn't even have the energy to tell at times.

"Yeah - she took over Dayakka's later on, since he moved to command the Dai-Gurren."

Boota took up his usual place on Simon's shoulder, and Simon climbed into Lagann, kicking back in it. "Well, I think you earned the right to be tired," he answered, tone a bit solemn.

"Pffh. If I had known being dirt-napped for a bunch of years woulda made me this exhausted, I would have actually stayed IN the infirmary after my outburst in the meet up." grumbled Kamina, slumping on his chair in the Gurren cockpit.

"Hey, Simon, manly combining. Still working?"

"You could always go back - I don't think they'd hold it against you too much," Simon teased as he folded his arms behind his head.

"Oh yeah, 'course it does."

"Yeah right. Who'd whip this crew into shape again? I'd shame all of Team Dai-Gurren if I went and took another nap," scoffed Kamina.

He laughed at the last bit. "True."

Heh. There's that same old bullheaded Kamina. Not even death got him to learn, it seems. Troublesome as it was, there was a small degree of comfort in being around that stubbornness again. And in finding ways to go around it... "I dunno, bro - it might shame them more if you forgot about the nap and went in half-cocked. A member of Team Dai-Gurren should always operate at their peak, right?"

"Works on more than Gurren and Lagann, too, actually..."
