VOICE TESTING POST

||Welcome to the Transmigration 9. Actually, welcome to this simulation of the Transmigration 9,|| a voice says from somewhere in the darkness around you. ||It is necessary for beings in stasis to receive occasional cognitive stimulation to prevent the onset of a vegetative state. This simulation should keep your minds within acceptable limits of atrophy until you are needed.||

The voice doesn't seem to be concerned about you at all, though. ||You may notice that your mental projection of yourself may seem sluggish, but we of the Transmigration 9 can assure you that this is just a reflection of how you always are. It has just been a while, so you don't remember.||

||You will soon find yourself on a copy of the Observation Deck, surrounded by other beings from the stasis pods. You are advised not to maim or kill other inactive crew members, as the effect of damage to mental projections on the body is not being studied at this time. Your dedication to experimentation is, however, admirable for considering such a thing.||

And then you are here.

[OOC: Feel free to tag this with anybody, from actual crewmembers to potential apps to people you aren't really considering but just want to play around with anyway. Anything helps when it comes to voicetesting! Consider actual crew members just part of the simulation.]

Oh, a human. That was good. Humans were usually reasonable...or so Kais thought with some of his experiences. He paused for a moment, his subconscious bringing forward the human language that had been imprinted on it. When he spoke up, it was with a mild Japanese accent. "I do not know, no."

Wonderful. Not unexpected, though, considering his previous conversation. "That voice that spoke in our minds earlier spoke of this 'Transmigration 9' as a simulation. Yet I know of few, if any, capable of constructing an illusion so complete."

"This type of thing is possible, I believe." Then again, Kais hasn't experienced the full extent of it. Complete visual simulations were indeed possible with their technology but not on a physical and mental level.

"Possible. In theory." And yet, if it were illusion, it was perfect. The flow of the fae pooling in the dark corners of the room, the texture of their prison's walls, each delicate detail reproduced in unfailing clarity.

"And who are you? A fellow traveler, I'm assuming?"

"I am a Fire Warrior, not a traveler." That was said as if it was amazingly obvious.

Fire Warrior?

Tarrant gave Kais a considering look, frowning ever so slightly. "What order was it that you said you served?"

Order? He wasn't quite sure what he meant by that so he gave the best answer he could. "I am Shas'la T'au Kais. That means I am part of the Fire Caste and from the planet T'au. I serve the Ethereals as a part of the Greater Good."

"T'au," repeated Tarrant, tasting the word on his tongue. "So, you claim you are not from Erna?"

It sounded like he was a religious man, too. How fitting that Tarrant was faced with the same sort at every turn.

His helmet shook in reply.

"I have heard of no such planet but much of the galaxy remains unexplored."

"So you're a spacefarer." Tarrant turned the idea over in his mind. Oh, it was possible -- some of mankind's descendants had come to Erna, of course, but it wasn't as though the whole of humanity had come to rest there.

And yet the idea of contact with the greater part of their kind, someone who knew nothing of the fae...

"What is this Greater Good?"
