VOICE TESTING POST

||Welcome to the Transmigration 9. Actually, welcome to this simulation of the Transmigration 9,|| a voice says from somewhere in the darkness around you. ||It is necessary for beings in stasis to receive occasional cognitive stimulation to prevent the onset of a vegetative state. This simulation should keep your minds within acceptable limits of atrophy until you are needed.||

The voice doesn't seem to be concerned about you at all, though. ||You may notice that your mental projection of yourself may seem sluggish, but we of the Transmigration 9 can assure you that this is just a reflection of how you always are. It has just been a while, so you don't remember.||

||You will soon find yourself on a copy of the Observation Deck, surrounded by other beings from the stasis pods. You are advised not to maim or kill other inactive crew members, as the effect of damage to mental projections on the body is not being studied at this time. Your dedication to experimentation is, however, admirable for considering such a thing.||

And then you are here.

[OOC: Feel free to tag this with anybody, from actual crewmembers to potential apps to people you aren't really considering but just want to play around with anyway. Anything helps when it comes to voicetesting! Consider actual crew members just part of the simulation.]

"Stargate Command." He might as well tell him, there's no sense in hiding it. "We discovered this big, super-conductive ring that lets us travel to different planets. So, I've experienced my fair share of weird."

"I was under the impression that humanity preferred the use of ships to travel between regions of space," said Tarrant. The man didn't seem mad from outward appearances, at least, but his story... well.

"You say you discovered it. Meaning that it was some alien technology?"

[identity profile] colunderfire.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah." Everett folds his arms. "From what I understand it, the Ancients built the Stargate network to help them discover more about our galaxy, and used Earth as a mid-point. This was millions of years ago." He looks up to Tarrant. "I don't know much more." Apart from the Gate address back to Earth, and the ability to dial it from three different types of Stargate; Milky Way, Pegasus and Destiny.

"We've only developed ships recently, and that was only because of the Asgard."

[identity profile] coldfire-adept.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 05:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Impossible," said Tarrant. "Earth has been home to spacefaring technology for generations. Long before I was born. And there is nothing in our records to indicate the existence of this Stargate network."

[identity profile] colunderfire.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not where I'm from." Everett says, before pausing and adding. "Or when."

[identity profile] coldfire-adept.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 05:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"You are implying time travel?" Something beyond humanity's abilities, as far as Tarrant knew. Well, in the widely understood sense, anyway.

[identity profile] colunderfire.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"I did go into stasis back on Destiny. And the Stargates have been known for causing time travel under certain circumstances."

He looks around. "Or it could be this Transmigration 9 thing."

[identity profile] coldfire-adept.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Tarrant was willing to entertain the idea. For now. It wasn't as though their surroundings made much sense that he could glean.

"Yes, the Transmigration 9. It sounds like the name of a ship, doesn't it?"

[identity profile] colunderfire.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. Or some sort of alien relocation project." Everett stomps his foot a few times on the floor. "But why the meaty surroundings?"

[identity profile] coldfire-adept.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
A brief hint of distaste crossed Tarrant's features. "I have no idea. And if we are not on my world, the fae should not exist here."

[identity profile] colunderfire.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Fae?" Now it was Everett's turn to be confused.

[identity profile] coldfire-adept.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"A natural force, native to my world," Tarrant said, frowning slightly at a nearby fleshy wall. "A few can see it without tools or preparation. I am one of those."

[identity profile] colunderfire.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
And Young can't help but look around. "So, uh, you think we're still on your world, and I just came from a ship that's about 12 galaxies away from the Milky Way."

He takes a deep breath, puffing his cheeks out. "I'd say alien relocation is more plausible."

[identity profile] coldfire-adept.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Tarrant arched an eyebrow at him. "I didn't say that. Although it is more likely that you came to Erna than the other way around. For various reasons."

[identity profile] colunderfire.livejournal.com 2011-10-29 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe we should quit with the 'why' and start working out the 'out'." Young suggests. "All this theorising is making my head hurt."

[identity profile] coldfire-adept.livejournal.com 2011-10-29 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Tarrant opened the fingers of one palm. "I've already attempted the direct approach, to no avail. But you're welcome to try your hand."

[identity profile] colunderfire.livejournal.com 2011-10-29 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Young looks around. "The direct approach is all I know." He then sighs. "I don't see any point to all of this." He comments. "Why trap us here? It doesn't look like a jail cell."
