The "Ask Characters Questions" Meme!

Okay guys, this is pretty simple but should be fun, and give us all something to do as we wait for things to happen as plot to progresses.

Post your character, and people can ask them things ICly or OOCly, as themselves or as their characters.

For example, "Hey Chief, what do you think of [x]?" or "Hey Zita, what does Chief think of [x]?"

Characters do not strictly have to answer honestly, but it's more fun (and more funny) if you make them!

Other than that, go nuts and have fun!

This can only end well.

Indulge me-- were you so forthright with details of the future to our mutual associates because you thought they might enhance your own reputation, or do you just enjoy prattling?

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Well, mostly I don't know when to shut up. See, once people put me under the spotlight, I just keep going...

But, you've gotta admit, I've done nothing bad! Letting Kon know he comes back after he dies lets him keep living instead of living to die, and telling Slobo what he missed really shouldn't do anyone any harm; I mean, he was technically up to date, just not in a 'I can actually pay attention' kinda way.

It's not like I told anyone they die and stay dead...

None of that is your right to decide.

I'm not going to preach the dangers of causality because it's obviously going to be lost on you. But if you tell another soul that I died, that Dick took my place or that he had Tim replaced as Robin, I'll make sure you never sleep soundly again.

Noted. Ignored, but noted.

It helps when you don't sleep soundly in the first place.

Cry me a river.

Careless talk costs lives, Virgil. Count the number of people your gossip could destroy and then ask yourself whether you still deserve to call yourself a hero.

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not a hero. I'm a kid with electrical powers who is TRYING to use them to do some good. If that brands me a 'hero' or a 'villain', it's not my call. It's all in who looks at you.

After the killings I've been involved in, even if they weren't by my choice, I'm trying to help. If I fall short, it's on my head.

Everyone's got their own perspective, Bats. Why, if you ask me, most of your modus operandi is extreme, and you operate on a knife's edge in Gotham. I appreciate your trying to direct me, but I'm not your son. You don't get to treat me like I am without evaluating your own 'superstitious and cowardly lot' operation first.

I've told three people of things that happen; one on accident, one because he asked and deserved to know, and one because I felt he NEEDED to know. How that information gets used isn't my fault; information just is. And the future can always be changed - Robin, for example, knows this, what iwht his meetings with the future Titans and all. All I did was let it be known that he doesn't go 'crazy kill the bad guy' when I'm from.

I don't give a damn about you. I'm not trying to be your parent. I'm trying to be theirs. You honestly think none of the things you've said could possibly alter the decisions of any of these people? You think that now that Robin knows that his friend is going to be resurrected, he's going to sit back and let his brutal death happen in the first place? He's already tried to clone him once.

And don't give me the non-accountability crap. If anything changes because of what you've imparted, that is on your head alone.

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Being the caped crusader, you're smarter than me. We both know it. So we both know you're stepping around some of the issue; You're just angry I didn't tell [i]you[/i]. I'm not trying to change anyone's future, I'm trying to help their [i]now[/i]. Telling SB he comes back helps him more than it hurts him, if you ask me. I don't expect it to change what Robin does; if I've picked up anything from this place, it's that all signs point to none of us remembering anything that happens here when we get back home (yeah, when, not if).

I draw a fine line in the sand about people's lives... If I had kept the information from him, I feel like I would be a worse person for it. And yeah, if anything changes, it's on my head; I'll deal with that if and when it happens. Frankly, I see it as trying to undo the damage Todd did by lying to them about their futures.

So get off my case.

[personal profile] crusades 2009-10-23 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Undo?! You're more of a fool than I thought. Jason Todd is a paranoid schizophrenic with very little grasp on reality. Men like him make claims like his to their shrinks on a daily basis. You didn't undo his claims, you confirmed them.

For the record, nobody tells me anything, because I find out anyway. And you're right; my life is on a knife's edge. Robin's life is on a knife's edge. Your life is on a knife's edge. Our whole damn universe is on a knife's edge. So many people so much better than you have died keeping all of that from slipping, and I'm not about to let some prattling child ruin it in their abscence.

...yeah, well maybe I didn't think of that!

[slow clapping, he walks off]

Finally something we agree on. Try not to do it again.

When did you know you could bend lightning?

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
When I was fifteen, the was this...gang...thing I ended up at. It wasn't usually my scene, but...peer pressure and all, right? Anyway, I was just on the outside of the whole gang fight when there was this explosion-this nasty chemical stuff got all over, changed everyone. They called it the Big Bang. Nex thing I know, I'm waking up and these weird agents are rounding everyone up for their science experiments, I'm trying to get away and...lightning. I spent a bunch of time after that training myself, learning how to use it better, and in the end I just got a costume and started righting some wrongs.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, so you weren't born with your powers either? One day I'd like to know the stories if all the people that didn't get their powers at birth. I know something like that kind of sounds like some kind of a mutation in...genes, I think it is? I'm not sure what you'd call that. Its sounds a little like a cause and effect kind of thing, like a fish being exposed to pollution and having two heads.

Although that was a little freaky, to be honest.

But I'm glad that you used your power for good. When I first saw them it scared me. Someone in my world can use lightning too, but she uses it to almost kill her opponents.

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Pretty spot on, yup! Genes in the blood got mutated, turning me into what's called a Metahuman - basically, a mutant. Like a two headed fish, only not as creepy and certainly not gross (if I say so myself).

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, nowhere near as gross. You're a fairly good looking guy, honestly.

Metahuman. Could you tell me more about that?

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it basically means anyone with superpowers. 'Meta' basically means 'beyond'...I mean, a technical definition is more like transcending or a higher state of being, but those are kinda lofty... The idea is, everyone has a 'metagene'. This is the gene that, when activated, give you powers. Yours give you waterbending, for example, while your brothers is dormant (I don't know if that's actually how you work, really it's just more of an example). If your metagene is active, you're a metahuman; the big bang activated mine. Now, everyone's gene is different, it's how you can have so many superpowers like Black Canary's scream or Red Devil's...devilish looks.

That make sense?

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I think I get you. In my world though, sometimes its the person that makes me think they wouldn't have powers. For instance, my brother has a very logical way of looking at things. I could never see him with bending ability because he prefers to think in amore scientific way, more hands on. But that theory is pretty sound too. It'll be something I look up when I get the chance.

I'm glad you're on the ship, Static.

[identity profile] gangstageek.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
So....

Uh, when I stop being a jerk with the whole stereotype thing...

Would you accept an apology?

[identity profile] static-shock68.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Psh, none needed, man. You haven't really done anything offensive, and made a good argument for your case anyway.

[identity profile] gangstageek.livejournal.com 2009-10-24 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
...really?

Sweet!

And..yeah. I made it to tell myself I shouldn't think too badly of the guys until I got to know them. Some of them are good guys. Others...kind of fit the stereotype completely.

....can... can I have your autograph?
