Shirtless, wet Obi-Wan Kenobi, hip deep and grinning like a fool, beach ball in tow. Have fun with that.

Arha, on her rock, was staring---at Obi-Wan, at the water, at the ball. Mostly at Obi-Wan.

...and the water.

"Why do you have a ball?" she finally asked. It was not the foremost question on her mind, but it was the safest one.

Obi-Wan swam into the lee of Arha's rock so that he could talk to her without shouting, "Because— Arha, this is the beach. It's for fun! Come into the water, I'll show you!"

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Fun?" It came out terribly indignant with a dash of disbelief. "I am not going in there. It shall eat me." Then again, he was offering. Her toe was splashed with water and she glowered at it fitfully. "You play in water?"

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
"When there's time, yes," He seem unperterbed by her dismay, and threw the ball to her. He grinned cheekily, but managed to keep from laughing, "And I promise you, I won't allow anything to eat you, least of all the ocean. I'm an excellent swimmer."

And he spread his arms invitingly, "The water is quite warm."

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Arha blinked and caught the ball, stared at him, over balanced, and promptly topped headlong into the shallows with a startled flail. It was not if she had not had thoughts (too many thoughts...too many very graphic thoughts) before, it was simply distracting.

Pleasantly dis--

She hit the water and the ball went flying. Arha sank like a rock and flailed in an attempt to make herself go upward.

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Obi-Wan caught at the flailing fremen by the waist with both hands, and against her own best efforts held her head above the waves until she calmed. Of course, he held back from laughing at her only by dint of sever self control and the certainty that she would gut him like a fish the moment they were both back on dry land.

[identity profile] ladyofthesands.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
The cursing she spewed was translatable without the need for an actual translator. Some things were left in their original language, anyway. It was about as pleasant as it sounded. Arha was curing the water and the rock and ball--but not Obi-Wan.

She clung to him fiercely.

With her fingers dug into the back of his waistband for purchase.

Arha went dead silent and very still.

"I did not wish to fall in," she grumbled against his collarbone.

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Obi-Wan let her cling for a moment longer, cocking an eyebrow. The water only came up to a little over his bellybutton as it was, and he rolled his eyes with a grin as he told her, "Put your feet down. It's quite shallow enough to stand in."

[identity profile] mynameisax.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
With his Jedi senses, Obi-Wan was probably aware that he was being hunted.

By someone who wanted to help him play with that beach ball!

A slick, gray creature appeared out of the water next to him, briefly spraying water and air from its blow hole and rolling on its side to eyeball Obi-Wan.

< I bet that I can balance that on my snout. >

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-10-27 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Aware, yes, but no less surprised at the form of his pursuer. Still, seems friendly enough, and he smiled at the creature and gave it's side a soothing pat.

"Can you, now?" Obi-Wan drawled and batted the ball a ways away, "Well, let's just see!"

Play play play play play! went the dolphin mind as Ax rolled over and chased the ball. He dove down beneath it, fired off a burst of echolocation to aim, then powered up toward the water's surface and the floating ball.

Poink!

Well, less balancing and more flying back toward Obi-Wan. Ax followed it back.

< I've seen them do it on These Messages, > he explained.

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Them? Who?" Obi-Wan questioned, much amused, and tugged the ball back towards him with the Force so that it was an easy catch. No sense in having to struggle through waves chasing a ball. Cheerfully, he batted it back towards the dolphin.

[identity profile] mynameisax.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 05:04 am (UTC)(link)

< Dolphins, > Ax said, leaping up and whapping the ball back with his tail. < They think of life as one big game. It's rather like being a small child, only my body is more under my control and fish are tastier. >

He balanced himself upright in the water and clapped his fins, chattering in dolphin-ese.

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"I take it, then, that this is not your normal mode of living?" that kind of transformation was not completely unheard of, but certainly Obi-Wan had never met anyone who had personal mastery over such a skill, "I'm very impressed."

[identity profile] mynameisax.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Image

< No, it isn't, > Ax said. < I'm surprised that no one mentioned it to you -- I and my brother Elfangor and my nephew Tobias all possess the ability to acquire the DNA of any living creature we touch and transform ourselves into a copy of that animal. > He chattered a bit more. < I haven't been using it on board very much because Stacy's method of travel warps my ability to keep track of how much time has passed. Here, though, I am tracking as normal. >

That was partially why he was in such a good mood. It was profoundly unsettling to not know what time it was.

And have a random force push aimed at that ball, followed quickly by a whistling Kyle, trying to look innocent.

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Kyle gets the same treatment Mara got: Force-pushed Tsunami!

[identity profile] sage-outcast.livejournal.com 2009-10-29 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Kyle just laughs, sending a Tsunami right back at Obi-Wan.

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-10-29 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Tsunami Fight! Obi-Wan retaliates— only bigger!

There's a Sheikah nearby, immersed in the water up to his chin to hide from the sun (boy, you wouldn't think someone so tan would be so avoidant of sunlight), staring at the beach ball Obi-Wan is holding.

"...What is that for?"

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
"It's for fun," he explained warmly, turning to give Sheik a look, "You know, you'll burn much more quickly that way."
redeyes_andblue: (S - small smile: that wasn't too awful)

[personal profile] redeyes_andblue 2009-10-28 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
"It's not the sunburn I am concerned about," he mutters, but straights up a little nonetheless, one hand semi-self-consciously raising to brush the scar on his chest before he forces himself to drop it.

For fun? "...What do you do with it?" Sheik asks, a little confused - fun, in his experience, has rarely involved inflatable balls.

[identity profile] jedimacguyver.livejournal.com 2009-10-28 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Here, it's only a game," A gentle bop and the ball is sailing towards Sheik. Obi-Wan's smile is welcoming, you aren't the only one who has a scar or two, my friend.
redeyes_andblue: (S - confused: what in the three's name?)

Sheik hits it back almost automatically, although at least part of that is from a desire to not be hit in the face. It goes wide, the ball landing a little way off deeper into the water.

Grimacing, Sheik heads out to get it, returning to the shallower water with the ball (it's more slippery than it looks!) in his hands. "You just... hit it back and forth?" he asks curiously, sending it back towards Obi-Wan with hopefully something resembling co-ordination.

Zelda is giggling at him, he can hear her. Not his fault Hyrule never developed the technology for inflatables!
