...and the water.
"Why do you have a ball?" she finally asked. It was not the foremost question on her mind, but it was the safest one.

And he spread his arms invitingly, "The water is quite warm."

(too many thoughts...too many very graphic thoughts)before, it was simply distracting.Pleasantly dis--
She hit the water and the ball went flying. Arha sank like a rock and flailed in an attempt to make herself go upward.

She clung to him fiercely.
With her fingers dug into the back of his waistband for purchase.
Arha went dead silent and very still.
"I did not wish to fall in," she grumbled against his collarbone.

By someone who wanted to help him play with that beach ball!
A slick, gray creature appeared out of the water next to him, briefly spraying water and air from its blow hole and rolling on its side to eyeball Obi-Wan.
< I bet that I can balance that on my snout. >

"Can you, now?" Obi-Wan drawled and batted the ball a ways away, "Well, let's just see!"

Play play play play play! went the dolphin mind as Ax rolled over and chased the ball. He dove down beneath it, fired off a burst of echolocation to aim, then powered up toward the water's surface and the floating ball.
Poink!
Well, less balancing and more flying back toward Obi-Wan. Ax followed it back.
< I've seen them do it on These Messages, > he explained.

< Dolphins, > Ax said, leaping up and whapping the ball back with his tail. < They think of life as one big game. It's rather like being a small child, only my body is more under my control and fish are tastier. >
He balanced himself upright in the water and clapped his fins, chattering in dolphin-ese.

< No, it isn't, > Ax said. < I'm surprised that no one mentioned it to you -- I and my brother Elfangor and my nephew Tobias all possess the ability to acquire the DNA of any living creature we touch and transform ourselves into a copy of that animal. > He chattered a bit more. < I haven't been using it on board very much because Stacy's method of travel warps my ability to keep track of how much time has passed. Here, though, I am tracking as normal. >
That was partially why he was in such a good mood. It was profoundly unsettling to not know what time it was.

"...What is that for?"

For fun? "...What do you do with it?" Sheik asks, a little confused - fun, in his experience, has rarely involved inflatable balls.

Grimacing, Sheik heads out to get it, returning to the shallower water with the ball (it's more slippery than it looks!) in his hands. "You just... hit it back and forth?" he asks curiously, sending it back towards Obi-Wan with hopefully something resembling co-ordination.
Zelda is giggling at him, he can hear her. Not his fault Hyrule never developed the technology for inflatables!
