[note: Beka comes from the second book in the Provost's Dog series, this book is less than a year old, and some facts may include spoilers.]

o1. Beka is what is commonly called a police officer [for her, the term is guardsman/woman] however, it is during the early stages for the development of such. Because of this, bribes and the like are not frowned upon, but are part of her pay-checks.

o2. She grew up on the slums of the city, and was rescued from this life at the age of eight, (already though, she was learning the basics of filching) And entered training when she was fifteen.

o3. Police officers/guardsmen are called 'dogs' and because of this, her nick-name on the force is 'Terrier' as while she was still a trainee, she brought down one of the largest slum lords of the city. (who, in the same vein, was the father-in-law of one of her best friends.)

o4. She has a pet cat named Pounce, who in reality, is a constellation called 'The Cat' and Pounce contains the ability to speak, though most of the time, people do not understand him.

o5. She has bad luck when it comes to partners. The first dies in the summer of an epidemic, the red flux. Beka arrests her second partner because he took a bribe to ignore murder. Beka's third partner can't let his hands off her and so she tells him she would "lop his hands off if he put them on her again". He believes her and apparently requests another partner. So Beka is with her fourth partner by September of 247 HE. Her latest partner, Silsbee, thinks of her as being too eager for him and he, too, requests another partner and is subsequently transferred.

o6. She has the ability to listen to the voices of the dead, who ride on the backs of pigeons on their way to the realms of the dead. On rare circumstances, she is even able to communicate with them. [this is a trait she shares with her father and his side of the family]

o7. Her decedent, George Cooper, grows to become the King of Thieves.

o8. She wears, at all times, a bracelet of opals given to her by a gambler of the name Dale Rowan. During an investigation of false coin, it was believed he was involved, so she entered a relationship with him, to gain further information. [Work comes first for her]

o9. She chose to work in the lower city, in lieu of a more 'posh' position.

1o. Beka suffers from crippling shyness, especially when addresing those of higher rank and nobility. This does not appear to affect her while on duty, or in certain social situations (she enjoys dancing most of all, as it does not require talking to your partner.)

(fff this is completely unrelated to the actual meme but I squeed so much when I saw we had a Beka Cooper. I love Tamora Pierce XD)

(heee! I'm a HUGE fan, and actually have an Alanna in a Silent Hill game as well. I'm scared I'm not playing her right though, because all her canon material is in the wrong state.)

Yaaay for being huge fans! (I own...pretty much every single book she's written XD), Oddly enough, I've never actually thought of picking up a Tamora Pierce character. I have no idea who I'd pick up if I did - my favourite books are the Trickster ones, and I have a soft spot for the Circle books, but fff there are so many characters! (and oddly enough, I think I saw a Pounce on dear_mun the other day. Who knew there were people rping it out there?)

My heart, it will weep. As for the people, at one point, we nearly had the entire cast for the Lioness Quartet. :D

Yeah, eventually it would be fun to pick up Tamora Pierce character - and if I do, now we've got Beka I'd definitely send them here! Still, probably not for a while - I've only had Marco for about a month and a bit here. (Plus my tendency to write insane histories for my rp characters means that especially when it's a book character preparing takes me foreeeeeever *still recovering from Marco and his 54 book series, orz*)

Yeah, it was just the other day, actually. Maybe yesterday? I can't remember. And wow, the a whole Lioness cast? that is pretty amazing!

BWAHAHAHA, I'd hope so. Beka is kind of freaking out right now that she's the only one from Corus. (in her own, Beka way.) (I have SOOO MUCH FAITH IN YOU YEAH HUH) and I'm going to still enable for one of the men in her life, or hell... even Goodwin. omg. Goodwin.

Aww, pook Beka /gives her a hug. (EVENTUALLY! EVENTUALLY! IF I CAN FIGURE OUT WHO THE HELL I'D WANT TO APP ASFDSFSD SO MANY CHARACTERS)

Alas, I don't think any of the male Beka characters are the kind I'd be interested in picking up. I think. It's been a while since I last read them ~~argh, you're going to make me go and start re-reading all her books to trying and find characters to pick up, aren't you? XD~~

I can work with the womenz, after all, they're usually more interesting in her books as is. (besides, we figured Beka would try to hobble George if he showed up.) ~~yes, yes I am.~~

Who knows, maybe Slapper is actually in a pod somewhere (hey, if Danny Phantom can have his ghost dog show up...*innocent whistling*)

Oh, she would do it! Bad great-great-great-great-great-great grandson, for being the king of thieves and all that.

Obviously because he was such a *ahem* memorable part of Beka's story! tales of his deeds went out across the multiverse, and the Daligig said, "yes, we must save that bird!" XD

He reforms, though! XD Aaaah, I'm so going to have to find a reason for Marco to thread with Beka sometime. They're actually in the same team though, so that should make things easier! XD

CLEARLY this is the only answer. After all, the bird carries the voices of the dead! That's pretty freaking sweet.

Well that all depends on when he shows up. 23 year old George is HARDLY 55 year old George.

She just asked for one! *grumble grumble* (And actually, I don't imagine Marco as the "wandering hands" type. He's more likely to just make lewd remarks and waggle eyebrows and that sort of thing. He'd flirt just for the sake of riling her up, actually.)

That's a woman for you. I don't think you're going to win. (which, is just that much worse, since she can't 'lob off his hands' if he goes to far. Grr.)
