Chief's reluctance is actually why I would find him winding up in a ship so interesting (if it happened at all). It's the same reason I find it so fascinating with Brainy. In the first incarnation, he fell for Supergirl, she died, then got wiped from time and Laurel Gand replaced her. They broke up and parted ways and she married someone else and had a kid--and that was that.

In that timeline, there was also a batch of "clones" (that they later found out were their younger selves time-displaced, thus farking up the timeline) where the younger Brainy wound up with the younger Laurel but then both groups got wiped out as time rebooted.

And that was that.

Then my Brainy came about in the reboot and had a crush on Laurel, kinda pushed her away when she showed remote interest in him, and that was that. She became a space nun.

Then the threeboot Brainy fell in love with Dream Girl, but she died, but she got revived and they apparently were gonna get married, thus marking him as the ONLY Brainiac 5 to have a successful relationship. (Which is ironic, because he's the most sociopathic).

So I mean, look at that track record of relationships failing or just not happening. It's fascinating watching a character shoved into stuff like that when it's not natural for them.

And that's why I think peeps are all "CHIEF/SOMEBODY" XD
