The Chief respects Samus, though he frequently does not agree with her and finds her frustrating to deal with. He trusts her to take care of herself and keep people alive, but not to give good orders or make effective use of a team.

He doesn't especially like her as a person, but likes that she's dependable.

The Chief likes Lafiel. He appreciates the confidence she has in him and feels a little bit responsible for her, like he does a lot of the younger members of the crew.

She's one of the characters that kind of pulls a little bit of human-ness out of him.

Chief is so grateful to have somebody used to captaining a ship around you don't even know. Like for serious. So much. Chief's used to having somebody being boss of him, even if it's not so much on a "you go do this" level as a "you get your Spartans together and accomplish this" one. He is not a ship captain.

Kirk has earned the Chief's respect and general liking, and gives him a great deal of peace of mind by being here.

Chief respects Leon, and likes him in that rather undemonstrative way in which the Chief likes people. He trusts him to do his job well and gets along with him, unlike Samus.

Chief is, as Leon has figured out, not used to being regarded as a person and tends to not even treat himself like one, and Chief himself hasn't even figured this out. So he just is slightly bothered by the fact that Leon tries to get him to chill, because it feels to him like people are putting his comfort in front of more important things. Even if they may, on occasion, be right.

Chief likes Paco, and hopes to be able to help keep him in one piece better in future than, say, during the bridge plot. >.>

Like with most people though he's kinda uncomfortable with casual conversation/regular talking, but likes that Paco listens to him (for the most part) and trusts him not to do anything stupid (most of the time). :)

Chief's kind of leery of anything that could be called "magic" per se, so he's happy to leave Nanoha to that business. He wouldn't believe in it if he were given a choice, but the universe just doesn't seem to love him that way. (Hilariously, he'd probably accept it without much question if it were presented to him as technology nobody had figured out yet. He's used to that.)

So far, he's seen no alarm bells in her department and takes that as a good sign.

XD Yessss.

Chief can't help being slightly uncomfortable around Rtas, being that Rtas is a Sangheili and Chief has been trained to fight or run from them for most of his life. He recognizes Rtas as a capable ally and, despite his reflexive discomfort, trusts him. He also considers it his job to set an example for Kelly as far as dealing with Rtas goes, and to make sure Kelly doesn't act on old grudges.
