Brenda counts Paco among people she could never live without. She feels content in their current relationship but kind of confused and guilty given what's gone on for her with other boys in her life, particularly with Brainy.

She knows that Paco is someone who'll care for her and protect her, and that she wants to do the same for him, but she's very worried about how long their current intimacy can last and what will happen to their friendship if their romantic relationship falls apart. A huge part of her commitment to him as a girlfriend is wrapped up in her fear of losing him in general.

Which is all not to say that she doesn't love him because she absolutely does. He is her family whether as part of a happily ever after or part of a platonically ever after. No matter what happens he won't get rid of her easily.
