Fate loves Nanoha. More than anyone else in the entire world(Vivio is a very close second, of course). Nanoha was the first friend she ever had and the best friend she's ever had. She was the one who gave Fate the determination and courage to pull out of her BSoD and fight back after her mother disowned her and told her she hated her, and Fate can't thank her enough for that. Without Nanoha, Fate wouldn't even be alive now.

Fate is very protective of her. She knows she worries too much, and Nanoha is a big girl and can take care of herself, but because she's such an important part of Fate's life, she'd be crushed if Nanoha was hurt(or, god forbid, she died). Even if they weren't as close as they are, she'll fight with everything she's got to make sure Nanoha is safe.

And on a lighter note, Fate secretly likes it when Nanoha teases her sometimes. She will never, ever admit this.
