Steve thinks Miku is really, really cute and she makes him think and say stupid things while she's around (he's 17, what do you want.) He's very appreciative of her friendship and her caring nature, and he's a tad bit more protective of her than she may find reasonable at this point in time.
He just has no idea how to proceed or in which direction.
