Ickle Meatships!

Hopefully no one sues me for semi-stealing the SLEEP meme format but!

ICKLE!

Think about or think back on the childhood days/younger days of your character (or your character now if they already are kids). There's a huge playroom with a mountain of toys....

Have fun, Kids! And no fightings!

"You're making a mess."

There is a green kid watching you, Sheeana. He disapproves of your paint flinging, largely because there's a splatter on his nose.

Young Sheeana stands with her hands on her hips in front of the rather disturbingly accurate looking painting of a giant fish leaping and swallowing a house. "You're just in the way."

"I was standing all the way over here," he answers hotly. "You're just making up excuses for the fact you're making a mess while wasting time with... whatever that is."

"It's called art, stupid." She says in a very tsundere way.

"It's still a waste of time," he insists stubbornly. "And you're making a mess." He wipes at the paint splatter on his nose.

"Art is not a waste of time! How else do you not go crazy if you don't have art?" She pointedly ignores the accusation of messiness, mainly because it was entirely true.

[identity profile] emotionl4arobot.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not going to go crazy!" he snaps back. It's a sensitive topic.

"And you don't need art to prevent anything like that anyway!"

The little girl with paint splattered hands sees that she's found a sore spot and goes for it with the precision and speed of a hunter-seeker. "I bet you are. You don't like art because you're a crazy person. A freak. You're a..." There's a little pause as she tries to remember what Ms. Odrade said. "...temp'r'ry stopping point on ev'lushun's journey elsewhere."

"I AM NOT!" This is much too close to home for his liking. "What gives you the right to say something like that about me when you can't even speak properly?!"

[identity profile] worm-dancer.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 09:53 am (UTC)(link)

"Nothing wrong with how I speak, ghafla!" She is suddenly conscious of her deep desert accent. "You're totally a little mutant or a robot. Your brain's all messed up and that's why you don't like art. It's got no...no...Art center!"

[identity profile] emotionl4arobot.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm not a robot, I'm Coluan. I might not be organic, but there's a difference!"

He takes a step closer, glaring (possibly up, he's a shortass) at her and almost daring her to start something. ...well, more than she already has. "I'm not a freak or a mutant or anything like that, I'm just different. You're the close-minded one."

Sheeana gives him a disbelieving look. A thinking machine! The priests had warned her about how dangerous they were! But...This one didn't seem dangerous. Mad maybe. But not dangerous except in that he might try to shove her.

"You've got a freaky brain that doesn't work right! Don't blame it on me! If you really were a human, you'd like paintings and music and stuff!"

[identity profile] emotionl4arobot.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
"My brain works just fine! In fact it works better than yours does! I'm easily twice as smart as you are, and I'm better designed as well!"

He stepped closer, thrusting a finger in her face. "And I don't have to like painting and music and whatever you say I do in order to be more human! That's just illogical!"

[identity profile] worm-dancer.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 11:58 am (UTC)(link)

"Oh that's IT!" Says the frustrated little Fremen girl. "You don't get it at all. Being human's 'bout doing illogical things! You know what does only logical things all the time? A mechanical calculator! So i'm gonna make you into a human!" She grabs the cold hand, her own still tacky with paint, and begins marching him...somewhere. "Now what kindof things in here look fun?!" This is half question half order.

One minute he's wondering if he'll have to get a force field around her in order to end the argument (it'd be easier if she just admits he's right, since obviously he is), the next he's being dragged around the place. He's not sure how that happened, and decides humans make even less sense than he previously thought.

"What?" he says, not sure what she's on about. But then again, from the look of her face, it might be easier for once to just go along with things. For the moment.

"I don't know... Everything's so different from Colu, and I don't see the point of a lot of things here."

"The point is to use your imagination!" Sheeana sighs and drags him towards the legos, pulling them both down and not letting go until they're both seated amongst the colorful blocks. "Now make something."

[identity profile] emotionl4arobot.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Brainy blinks at the legos in confusion. He really has no idea what the bossy girl expects of him, but he's pretty sure of one thing.

"I can't make anything worthwhile from these," he points out. "They're just simplistic blocks that snap together. There's no circuitry or parts for me to build anything functional."

"Watch." And over the course of a minute or two, she snaps together a crude but functional representation of a harvester (http://www.automopedia.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/harvester_large.jpg). "It's a harvester. Brrrm brrrm it goes on the sand and picks up the Spice." She says, moving it across the carpet. "Get it?"

[identity profile] emotionl4arobot.livejournal.com 2010-02-15 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Brainy watches the construction of the harvester and subsequent actions carefully. Then he looks up at her with calm purple eyes. "No," he says flatly. "It doesn't work, it's just a model. What's the point of having it?"
