Ickle Meatships!
Hopefully no one sues me for semi-stealing the SLEEP meme format but!
ICKLE!
Think about or think back on the childhood days/younger days of your character (or your character now if they already are kids). There's a huge playroom with a mountain of toys....
Have fun, Kids! And no fightings!

"Physician's Reference Guide to the Human Anatomy." Spoken in a thick Spanish accent, still a bit unfamiliar with conversational English. "Want to see?"
no subject
"Sure. Are you Mexican?" Hunter asks, more out of curiosity than anything. He's from a tiny town in the middle of Georgia, and has the accent to match... all Hispanic people tend to be labeled 'Mexican', no matter their background.

Luis sits forward and deposits the book on the floor, smoothing out the pages for the other kid to look at. It's a positively thrilling chapter about neurons and dendrites. Ooooh!
"Soy de Valencia, EspaƱa," he replied, then paused to decipher the English. "I am from Valencia, Spain. De donde eres?"

Oooh, the nervous system. Hunter's not quite sure of all the technical names for things, but he can pretty much tell anyone who'll listen how it works and how to fix it.
"Eth-pawn-yah..." Hunter says, cheerfully mangling the Spanish pronunciation. "Sorry, what'd you ask?"
no subject
"No no. Es-pahn-ya," Luis corrects. "And I asked where you are from. Americano? Texas, right?"
no subject
"Nah, I'm from Georgia. Texas is a ways away from Sparks, anyhow." Hunter says, shaking his head as he sneaks a look at the next page in the textbook.

Oh, well he sounded like he was from Texas anyway. Luis had been to the cinema enough to count on one hand but he could hear an American accent easily.
"Have you read this book before?"
no subject
"Not this one." Hunter says. "My gramma got me an anatomy book for Christmas, but it was a kiddie picture-book one, and..." Hunter's face makes it very clear that he is well past kiddie picture-books, especially ones about anatomy.

Oh man, Luis could sympathize. "Eww. The ones for little kids are no good, they don't even have all the right systems and organs in them!"
no subject
"They didn't even have the bones labeled right, and those are easy." For a given value of 'easy', anyway.

"Mi Dios, what is even the point?" Luis muttered. He was even more grateful for the dusty old stack of books now. It was just whatever he could find in his grandfather's bookshelves, the shelves at Dr. Salvador's and Chief Mendez's house, but it was better than silly lying picture books.

"I dunno, but I gave it to the librarian up in Valdosta and she gave me a better one. It's not as big as this one is, but she told me I don't have to give it back." Hunter says with a shrug. He knows that this is definitely against the point of libraries, and it makes him a bit uncomfortable, but... it's a book that's right!
