'Red' Snout (what a dweeby last name, but he lives with it) looks slowly from Alan to the locker, then back again, showing complete disinterest.

"I'm comfortable here."

"I'd like to get my history book. You know, for that class we're both in. That has a paper due next Friday."

Give 'em an opening, let 'em think it's their idea. There's a reason he does all his homework ahead of time.
