But the challenge? They must be instrumental. Lyrics? We don't NEED no stinking lyrics! >:D
So, go ahead and post things. (Youtube links are love if you got 'em.) Feel freeee to tl;dr as much as you like about your choices.
And if you don't have any music for yours, try posting! See if anyone else has anything that comes to mind!

This song feels sort of dreamlike with its repetition and gentle arrangement, but once the song really starts, it reminds me best of Miku.
Sherry - Still Doll (Orgel Version) by Kanon Wakeshima - Vampire Knight OST (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpKI43TfDHQ)
Sherry's theme from RE2 is also a lullaby/music box style song, so getting too far away from that seems wrong to me. Still Doll is a lovely (if entirely too creepy) song in its usual format, and I like it quite a bit in its orgel form, too.

Theme Song: Ghosts N Stuff- Deadmau5 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pC6utdi3jgU&feature=related)
This has always been Alessa's theme inside my head: a little creepy and a little dangerous, with the presence of a dark bass. Alessa is ALL ABUT dark bass.
A Day in the life: Working Man's theme- Nakaido "Chabo" Reichi. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNRBBzp-hmc)
Which means exactly what it says: Alessa's life as routine on the ship, and her interactions with others. All of it is relative to her growing disassociation with others.
Alessa and Shadow: Saturate- Chemical Brothers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agb-oFZjuGM)
A chink in the armor: Shadow has a way of making Alessa access a whole new range of emotions she never thought possible. That's why Saturate starts slow and builds to cymbal crescendo, Alessa's feelings all still very new and bursting within her.
Silent Hill Silent hill theme-Akira Yamaoka (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2cK8mOG4Q8)
If I didn't have this song, seriously, I need to be shot. That is all.
In My Own Creepy World Skool Daze -Chris Vrenna (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfuJPK0xEyw)
The ever present reminder of what and who Alessa is: an amalgamation of a child's fears brought to life and fighting back. This is the core of what makes Alessa exist.
Katara
Awakening on the Ship
Marooned -Pink Floyd (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI4kyaOulJ0)
The song speaks for itself. Katara is taken to a strange place with even stranger technology and has no idea how to react. It captures her first initial feeling of isolation, which passes very quickly.
Carol Davers Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness- Smashing Pumpkins (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBD1BXOxnFc)
Carol is one of the first people Katara meets that forms a lasting impression on her: she's both very sad and very good for Katara in that she fills a hole Katara never knew COULD be filled. Its a slow moving song that speaks the happy love Katara has for her ship mother, and how she also hopes better things for her.
Dreaming of Aang IN Space- Royskopp (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7Wg6hFDf6U)
In the back of Katara's mind she is always thinking of the one person she can't see on the ship, the focus of her love and affection Aang. This song is a balance of Aang's air and Katara's water at play, and how the two compliment each other.
Bending: Devil's Trill- Vanessa Mae (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ798THmR5Y)
Katara's bending, whether used for healing or for fighting, is the core of what she is and a reminder of her people. The song is indicative of a skill that is both defensive and powerful in its own right.
Sheeana and Arha Marco Polo- Loreena Mckennett (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvPu2PGzcSg)
In Sheeana and Arha Katara sees the remnants of a Middle East she's really never seen: sensual, strong, dark and mysterious. The core
of this song, however, is the discovery of new things, and a new way for Katara to absorb. Obviously this is more on Sheeana's end, but Katara can't help putting Arha there too.
Trying Spice Surface to Air- Chemical Brothers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33WTgejzNLs)
For this particular scene, where Katara finally opens her mind to the possibility of being in a higher state of consciousness, I literally wanted the song to be that: a slow build up to the opening of her Third Eye. I wanted it to epitomize the things Katara has been trying to do all along: getting to a point where she no longer saw the universe in only a straight line but, as Bumi said, opening herself to possibilities.
Meeting the Avatar crew The Afternoon Streets- Kingdom Hearts II (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMMEauNVGr0)
A nice, wistful tune of meeting the Avatar crew minus Aang. Obviously there;s love mixed with a sadness here, but Toph, Sokka, Zuko and Mai help to show Katara's happier side.

For any time a Crowning Moment is in the works, go with this:
This is blatant cheating to use songs outta the OST, don't care. ^_^

Electronic+violin, if it exists? Awesome. But if you have any other suggestions I'd be happy to hear them.

That's Vulcan, to me. Has a slightly "eastern" feel, contemplative, just a little sad.
This is Spock's actiony, being a total badass with his Enterprise buds, music.
And finally, the end credits.
I pretty much put the STXI soundtrack on repeat when I'm writing them.
Anyone have any thoughts on non-official soundtrack stuff? I'm always open to ideas (and I love instrumental music so lay it on me)!

Chris and Selene Jones/Dreamweaver:
Doc and Waspinator? I'm not sure. I'll happily take any suggestions for those two.

It is? Righto.
'Kay, let's see. For Sheik, for some reason I keep associating him with the Serenade of Water and honestly have no idea why. Particularly this version of it, there's a melancholiness (...is that a word?) that fits my headcanon-y version quite well.
For Zelda, The Winner Is from the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack. It's just sorta... optimistic and sweet and pretty, but has some power behind it and this sort of... goodness.
For Kim... Far Above The Clouds by Mike Oldfield. Can't really justify why, it just seems to suit her. (Some lyrics at the start, but it's all about the instrumental bit, baby o.o)
Anyone got any others? >.> And I'll try to add some more when I get home!

The Halo 2 Soundtrack is totally cheating, but I really love these:
Unforgotten
Peril
And I can't leave this thread without linking the Halo Theme - MJOLNIR Mix because it is totally awesome. Basically, Halo music pretty much nails it for him. I have some minor additions of my own I use for him but they're nothing to phone home about.
Jack Spicer:
Kenny Wayne Shepherd - "Trouble Is"
Joe Satriani - "The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing"
My music tastes and Jack's do not really agree all that much, but he's fond of loud music while he works and this stuff always springs to mind.
Bella:
Natalie MacMaster - "A Blast"
This song has a lot of energy and a little bit of aggression, even in the happy parts, that really fits with Bella. She does nothing half way.
Grif:
Joe Satriani - "The Feeling"
I like the sound/feel of it, though it's brief. Reminds me a little of the music present in RvB, too.
Vega:
Joe Satriani - "Speed of Light"
(You guys can tell I like Satch, huh?)
This song has a lot of energy, a loooot of positive energy and it would actually be a decent piece of semi-unserious Zoid battle music in my opinion. It's very optimistic but slightly show-offy? I like it, anyway.
Hisk:
"Back Country Serenade"
Bonnie Rideout - "What the Devil Ails You"/"Loch Ness"
Hisk is a roughspoken child of the backwoods (besides being a dragon) and she's also quite optimistic/chipper, so I like the fit of the first one for her. The second is more... introspective. Serious. More her dealing with the serious issues of her life, which is usually something she keeps to herself.
General trans_9 music:
Joe Satriani - "Time Machine"
^This is my personal theme song for this game. >.>
Joe Satriani - "Made of Tears"
^This is also really really cool.
Other than this, I'm rather tired and lazy now. So, uh, I have a huuuge instrumental collection if anyone'd want some suggestions? XD
