beauty & the beast montage
One moment, your character was minding their own business, and the next? Perhaps they opened the wrong door, appeared out of nowhere, or maybe, in a decidedly rare occurrence, they were actually escorted. The choice is yours. Either way, they seem to have found themselves at a formal party.
Spread out before them is a large ballroom. The decorations look like something from a fairy tale; high ceilings supported by stone pillars, walls adorned with gold trimmings and white silk curtains, and a high balcony overlooking an ornate marble dance floor. To the far end, a special stage has been set up, where a small orchestra fills the room with classical waltzes. Overhead, a large crystal chandelier illuminates everything with droplets of rainbow light.
To the sides and on the balcony small clusters of people make leisurely conversation and sip champagne. Several busboys carrying silver trays can be seen taking and delivering drink orders, regardless of age. Several couples choose instead to dance; the most graceful tend towards the middle, while the more inexperienced do their best to stay in the places they will be the most unobtrusive.
Should your character choose to go outside, they will be met with clear, starlit skies, a cool breeze, and a lavish rose garden. Several small tables are set up, lit by candles, where waiters take orders for a full-course dinner. Some of course, choose instead to gather near the ever-present Cod Fountain. Several pieces of strange currency can be seen at the bottom of the fountain; it seems that it's a popular place to wish for happiness.
THE RULES:
-Your characters' clothing with be replaced with formal wear, though the degree of formality is entirely up to you.
-Don't go having epic duels and destroying the building and what have you.
-If you please, you can use NPCs, but you will have to write them yourself.
-Standard "DON'T BE DOUCHEBAGS TO OTHER PLAYERS" disclaimers apply.

She stood on the balcony, looking out into the garden with a slight smile. The formality of the atmosphere reminded her of home. She just wished that someone would ask her to dance. She was accustomed to barely having time for a break between dancing with all of the most important guests.

She gave her instructor a polite bow, but as her head swam a little, it wasn't too deep. She righted herself, giving Nanashi a smile.
"You're probably used to these kinds of things," Katara said, smiling. "It's my first time really."
Ignore the slight lisp you might here. She's actually working on sobering up a bit.

She smiled and nodded back to Katara, putting her hand on Katara's shoulder to steady her. "Just be careful with how much you drink." She knew the effects of alcohol well enough, having had her fair share of blood wine at home.
"Indeed, I actually feel quite comfortable in this sort of situation, though I am not accustomed to having almost any time off the dance floor. It can be nice to dance, but there are times where these balls can be quite tedious."

Well, maybe not all, but enough to know that drinking too much of that, however good tasting, would lead to a pretty terrible morning after.
"I've actually been wanting to get better at dancing at these occasions myself. I'm actually a really good dancer, but I don't have much experience in this kind of a situation. To be honest, I have an another motive in doing it anyway."

She giggled, offering Katara her hand, "if that is the case, I could attempt to teach you to dance, at least as we would in my world. Our music was rather similar." Nanashi knew how to dance, but she had learned totally through observation, and had never had any other students in this area, unlike in sword training.

"Yes," she said, her hand clutching her arm awkwardly, but not looking ashamed in any way. "Definitely yes."
Here, Katara gladly took her hand. "I know a little bit, but its not the kind of dance that I know in detail, not like others. Those require more movement. This kind of dancing is still pretty new to me. If you could help me with that, I'd really appreciate it."

"Thank you teacher. It's more for formal occasions anyway. Fast dancing with a lot of movement is more my speed, but I want to give this a try."
