beauty & the beast montage
One moment, your character was minding their own business, and the next? Perhaps they opened the wrong door, appeared out of nowhere, or maybe, in a decidedly rare occurrence, they were actually escorted. The choice is yours. Either way, they seem to have found themselves at a formal party.
Spread out before them is a large ballroom. The decorations look like something from a fairy tale; high ceilings supported by stone pillars, walls adorned with gold trimmings and white silk curtains, and a high balcony overlooking an ornate marble dance floor. To the far end, a special stage has been set up, where a small orchestra fills the room with classical waltzes. Overhead, a large crystal chandelier illuminates everything with droplets of rainbow light.
To the sides and on the balcony small clusters of people make leisurely conversation and sip champagne. Several busboys carrying silver trays can be seen taking and delivering drink orders, regardless of age. Several couples choose instead to dance; the most graceful tend towards the middle, while the more inexperienced do their best to stay in the places they will be the most unobtrusive.
Should your character choose to go outside, they will be met with clear, starlit skies, a cool breeze, and a lavish rose garden. Several small tables are set up, lit by candles, where waiters take orders for a full-course dinner. Some of course, choose instead to gather near the ever-present Cod Fountain. Several pieces of strange currency can be seen at the bottom of the fountain; it seems that it's a popular place to wish for happiness.
THE RULES:
-Your characters' clothing with be replaced with formal wear, though the degree of formality is entirely up to you.
-Don't go having epic duels and destroying the building and what have you.
-If you please, you can use NPCs, but you will have to write them yourself.
-Standard "DON'T BE DOUCHEBAGS TO OTHER PLAYERS" disclaimers apply.

Nura doesn't know why she's here, or why she's suddenly dawned a very sumptuous gown (http://www.simplydresses.com/_img/PRODUCTS/500/PromGirl-506870309.jpg) , but she's not complaining. In fact, she's blending in, moving her high heels about, taking a glass of bubbly champagne from a waiter's tray and taking a sip, feeling a little more confidence pour into her with each brief sip. As she sips from her drink, she keeps an eye out for any potential dance partners.

She's adorned in a soft, strapless, taffeta gown (http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/edressme_2117_692032189), bustled, trumpet style skirt, fully lined, and floor length. It isn't something that she'd wear any normal day of leisure, but it will do, considering the current circumstance.
She stands not quite near the wall, but somewhere around there, sipping from a glass of champagne bubbly, looking as if she belongs, though she's only just arrived.

"Hello," she said. "I like your gown, its very nice! My name is Katara! Who might you be?"

By the fountain
In any case, this strange new elegant surrounding is overwhelming to Alessa, who decided that a brightly lit room with candles and people cavorting all over the place was definitely not her style. She edged near the fountain, glad to be out of the way but ultimately unable to avoid attention with such a noticeable dress.
Re: By the fountain
"...not your style, either, huh?"

Keeping her eye out for anyone she recognizes, she spots someone that she does not. A strange person looking very displeased with his attire and glass of champagne. Smiling, she walks over, lowering her glass of champagne from her lips.
"Enjoying the party?"

Where she stands against the wall, her red satin-gloved arms at her sides, she feels most comfortable.
In the ballroom. Not here. Not. HERE!
What...Oh dear, what the hell is he doing in formal native wear?! ...why didn't he put on Cinder's white coat? He's standing (actually standing, having reminded himself) in long, very see-through layers of cloth that look more like controlled liquid-smoke. Arm bands and ankle bands adorn, as does a wide neck decoration very vaguely reminiscent of Egyptian collars of state.
Ai yah. His headdress is on. And so is the formal makeup. Face paint more like, but still.
Don't mind him. He's standing there blushing like mad and trying to disappear into the wall.::

Billy moves to shield Renne from the rest of the room in two big steps, kneeling with clear concern.
"You look like you'd rather be anywhere else."

Much to his further displeasure, the woman at the punch bowl has dared him to ask someone to dance. He can manage the dancing, thankfully, but the asking? Plenty awkward.
He's scanning the crowd now, trying to prove that he's making an effort. And maybe, just maybe, going through with it.
Two shy kids in a ball room...
As she moves, hands grasping her gown's (http://www.simplydresses.com/_img/PRODUCTS/500/PromGirl-496583309.jpg) skirt so that she doesn't accidentally step on it with her red high-heels, which are now somewhat visible at the toes.
But the thing about constantly looking behind you...you aren't exactly looking forward. So it is quite natural that you might bump into someone, unaware.

At the side, sipping champagne
In the meantime, she's looking out for some of her friends and admiring all of the dresses and the hairdos, but has yet to step on the dance floor yet.

they can be shy together?
"Um, hello," she says to the person, wobbily smiling. She doesn't really give much notice that the person is a woman wearing a suit. Things like that don't quite matter to her.

Still, with her hair loosely curled around her shoulders, and the smooth shift of the dress as she walk, the inner 8-year-old princess felt rather pleased. She held off along the wall, and couldn't quite shake the feeling that the glitter-spewing Cod Fountain was all too familiar.
I like drawing my dudes in dresses you can't stop me.
Not to mention she couldn't stick a death ray gun in this! Lame!
So she stood next to wall, unsure of that to do. Balls were not exactly something CO's like her did often.
Re: I like drawing my dudes in dresses you can't stop me.
"At least your hair looks nice," Alessa commented grabbing a glass of champagne rudely from a nearby busboy.

He doesn't even recognize Samus, until he catches her scent, and while he's never been attracted to human women, he at least knows what is considered attractive, and it's a bit of a shock to see her in an actual dress.
Outside
He was currently outside, enjoying the night air, and sipping some red wine.
Re: Outside
The night air feels cool upon her skin, and the gown (http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/edressme_2117_692032189) adorning her covers her enough that isn't cold. So comfortable, she possibly might stay outside for a little while longer.

Nura spots a wallflower and comes over, sans champagne glass, one of her hands grasping her sumptuous gown's (http://www.simplydresses.com/_img/PRODUCTS/500/PromGirl-506870309.jpg) skirts, the other hand relaxed at her side. She's already had a glass or two of champagne, so her cheeks are lightly flushed, appearing no more different from blush.
"Hello," she greets warmly. "Are you having a good time?"

She stood on the balcony, looking out into the garden with a slight smile. The formality of the atmosphere reminded her of home. She just wished that someone would ask her to dance. She was accustomed to barely having time for a break between dancing with all of the most important guests.

She gave her instructor a polite bow, but as her head swam a little, it wasn't too deep. She righted herself, giving Nanashi a smile.
"You're probably used to these kinds of things," Katara said, smiling. "It's my first time really."
Ignore the slight lisp you might here. She's actually working on sobering up a bit.

Gathering up the sumptuous skirts of her gown (http://www.simplydresses.com/_img/PRODUCTS/500/PromGirl-506870309.jpg) (which is quite fancy), she crosses the room to the person. "Hey, ho," she says, with her 31st century version of 'hello'. "I'm glad to see that someone is happy with the party."

And she noticed that little tip-and-splash, Bruce. Wise enough to curl a smile along her lips where she stands along the balcony's wide marble balustrade some ways along. It's a beautiful night.
