I hope I'm doing this right. D: If this isn't how you do intro posts or something, please let me know, and I'd be happy to fix it.

But, um, anyway! Hi, everybody. I'm Sam, and I've been thinking about joining this game for a while, and I've finally decided to take the plunge. :D But I thought it might be nice to get to know people first, and I had a few questions too.

First question is, what counts as too fluffy/defenseless to be accepted? Because I've been thinking about joining with Nia from Gurren Lagann here, and while I don't think she's too fluffy, considering the canon she comes from, she's not really a combatant and she's got the whole naive faithful princess thing down pat, so I want to make sure. Basically, I just wanted to make sure that she a.) would have things to do, and b.) wouldn't get killed dead. I'm hoping somebody already knows enough of Nia's canon to answer that for me without me needing to get teal deer on you, but if not, I'd be happy to elaborate on who she is/what her show is like! Oh, and um, I do have other characters I could app with instead if people think she wouldn't be a good fit.

My other question-- I'm so, so sorry if this sounds stupid, but-- this is a campaign, right? Does that mean it's played like a tabletop game, but online? And if so, is it a problem if I've never done tabletop RPing?

Anyway, thank you for your time! I really look forward to meeting all of you!

Hey, welcome!~
I'm Zita. I'm not one of the mods, but I think I can at least take a stab at most of your question. >.< (And if anyone else thinks of anything to add, I won't be offended! Honest!)

I think the main thing with deciding whether a character is too fluffy/defenseless comes in mostly with whether or not the character can learn and grow and possibly become less fluffy and defenseless. As far as defending themselves, it's a good skill to have. However, other members of the crew are quite capable and usually willing to help and protect the ones that can't/aren't as good at fighting, and possibly teach them a thing or two if they can.

I don't know Nia's canon myself (Sorry! >.<) but the general roles most of the characters tend to fall into are the ones who can do fighting, the techies and engineers and communications/support staff, doctors and medical types, and the "people people" who tend to end up in the leadership somewhere or help smooth things over between people. I see no reason why a character wouldn't fit in just because they're young/innocent/fluffy. In fact, she'd probably end up good friends with a lot of the other younger characters. :)

As far as the campaign? Don't worry about the tabletop term, there's no dice here! XD It just means that our story is moving to a definite, set ending with an overarching plot to reach it. The mods lay out the setting and tell us what's happening, and everyone's characters go at it to progress the story. We also have plenty of "down" time between big plot points for player plots and casual character interaction and such. We also LOVE plot suggestions and love working in moments of awesome shininess for individual characters into the ongoing bits of plot.

I hope this helped! Nice to meet you, Sam! :D
