Here post somebody in, and the person who tags them? Congratulations, you're now handcuffed together. No keyholes and there's power dampeners to prevent those of you with magic/super strength to break them easily. How they come off? That's up to you, and your new partner to figure out!

Aye, maybe. [He tries to hum again after she's done, but while there's that wee bit of a shudder, the cuffs still don't open.]

Maybe not. It did move, though. [Think, Jamie, think.]

Hey, I have an idea! If we both try to hum together, maybe that'll work...

[uncertainly] What do ye think?

[ If you can get her to stop giggling, that is. ] Bit silly they want a duet, don't you think?

[ Right, deep breath and countdown... ] Three, two, one. [ HUM!! ]

Aye, well...

[Whatever it was he was going to say is cut short as the countdown starts. He starts to hum as well, although it takes a second for him to sync with her. Once he does, though, the cuffs quickly snap open.

Jamie pulls his wrist out, grabbing the chain just below the cuff with his other hand to steady it.]

Kaylee, are ye out?

[ Kaylee proudly holds up her free wrist. ]

Sure looks that way. Just in time, too. I was startin' to wonder if I'd have to stay attached to ya all day. [ Teasing, of course. ]

Think you get credit for figurin' that one out, Mr. McCrimmon.

[dryly] Oh, aye. A fate worse than death.

[Abruptly shifting his grip on the chain, he flings the cuffs away from them before they get any ideas about snapping shut again. He does it in such a way that when they do, they'll lock in on each other and become nothing more than a useless knot of metal. Jamie looks at them in satisfaction.]

There. That should do it. Sorry, what did ye say about credit?

For you, maybe. Might cramp your style a bit, bein' stuck next to the grease monkey forever. [ And teasing complete.

It's a very impressive throw, and Kaylee nods in approval. ]

Well, it might have been a wee bit difficult to play the pipes, but...[Oh, wait. Not serious.] Heeey.

[Cue the requisite 'hrmph', but as usual, he's not really bothered.]

Better that then to have them lock around our ankles or something. Now that would be a wee bit inconvenient, wouldn't ye say?

Not necessarily. You'd just have to teach me how to play part. Don't think that'd be anywhere near as easy as it is to teach you 'bout engines, though. [ No, seriously. She's never thought about being a musician, and now's probably not the time to start. ]

Well, I dunno about that. We'd've been Three-Legged Race experts in no time, I'd bet.

Aye, well, it does take a wee bit of skill in order to play properly. I'm not sure a girl would be up to the challenge. [Hey, if she can tease, he can tease. And he thinks about doing that with the Three-Legged Race comment, but decides that might be a bit much.]

You're probably right about the racing, though.

[ She raises an eyebrow at that. ] Oh no? Bet I could do it as well as any of the men on the ship.

[He wants to smile, but that would clue Kaylee in that he's not being serious. Instead, he gives her a very bland look - trying to make it seem like he doesn't believe what she's saying. He's overdoing it a bit, though. She might be able to catch on.] Oh, aye? I don't know, Kaylee...

[ Nope, she's riled. Not gonna notice for a bit, more than likely. She may or may not look somewhat offended. ] Couldn't be any harder than teachin' Jayne about engines, I wouldn't think.

Aye, well... [He might as well let her off the hook, he thinks. That crooked grin of his makes an appearance.]

I'd say ye have enough stubbornness that you'd be able to make do.

[ Oh he's grinning. Of course he is. Kaylee pauses, then gives him a playful punch in the shoulder. ] No more stubborn than you...

Hey! [Jamie rubs at his shoulder, although it doesn't hurt a bit, still looking rather amused.]

[ Pout. ] Stubborn as they come, you are.

[Oh, she had to go and pout. How is he supposed to stay amused when she's pouting?] I...aye, maybe you're right.

[ Easy, Jamie. You wait long enough for that GOTCHA-grin to emerge from the pout--like it's doing right now. ] Glad to hear you admit it~

[And, not surprisingly, he pulls a face.] Maybe we should get out of here before someone comes to check on us, aye?

[ Just. As. Planned.

He's got a point, though. ] Probly wouldn't be a bad idea. Just. Watch out for anymore cuffs on the way out.

Aye. I'd not trust there not to be more. [And Jamie does just that, creeping cautiously out of the room and up the corridor, keeping an eye out for any more cuffs that might decide to leap out at them.]

[ Kaylee trailed behind, back far enough that they (hopefully) wouldn't have to worry about any surprise handcuff attacks. ]

Coast clear?

So far. [He turns back, both to make sure they're not being followed and to make sure Kaylee's still behind him.]

You've not seen anyone behind us, have ye?

Neither seen nor heard. [ She does double-check, though. Just in case. ]

Once we're sure we're in the clear, though, we should probly split off. Just in case anybody is comin' around with another set.

[His instinct is telling him he should stick close to Kaylee, but what she says makes sense, and he nods.]

Aye...if you're sure you'll be all right on your own.
