DRUNK MEME

The premise is really very simple: The characters posted here are getting drunk at this on-planet marketplace. If your character would normally do so, you need no further instruction. Have fun!

If your character's a teetotaler, though, no worries. All the foods and beverages here at this strange marketplace of wonders are so imperceptibly alcohol-laced that no one will have a clue until it's too late. :3 By then, the fun's already beginning and there is NO ESCAPE. You are all DOOMED to suffer. Or puke. Or be really really super, if you're the type to process alcohol amazingly well.

Eat, drink, and have a party! There's plenty of partying with the locals over here for your characters to join in on. You have the vendors' corridor and a field outside it to roam around in, and for some reason the outdoor field is stocked with enormous gliding kites. This recipe sounds pretty disasteriffic to me.

Unlike the others, Katara has not gone out of her way to become drunk. She was still trying to figure out the appeal of drinking beer, and was actually writing down each of the different tastes: the creaminess, the bitter ones, how people reacted to the way it was. After an hour of doing this however, Katara started to notice that she was starting to feel a little...out of sort, her head swimming. She put the latest tankard down, noting bitter, with a strong aftertaste.

She put it down, shaking her head. Was THIS drunk?

::Thump. Scratch-knock. Oh....right. Opening the door is good but that's somewhat difficult when you weigh but six pounds. Door most often wins. And it's winning nicely against the thing trying to get beyond it. Its slurring chirps and warbling trills sound...off.::

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Katara hears the knock on the door and goes to open it, staggering a little as she does. Whens eh sees the little imp she cries out with glee and hugs him.

"Renne! Are you all right?" She sounds as off as he does.

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
Eeee-eee?

::Warble. Oh, hi, Katara. Nuzzle. Lick. And then cue a very cartoonish sway on his part::

Is yeu...::Warblepurr::...si-ck too?

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Katara giggled and nuzzled him a little, then leaned back, trying to regain her balance.

"Well yes, a little bit," she said, her voice sounding more garbled than she intended. "Not sick but, mmm, dizzy. What about you?"

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Wha-t? Tarrrrrr-Tarrrrr-arrr...saown-d li-ke...::Squeak:: ..>Rrrr-enne.

::Sway, wobble. Oh, man, his skin's going a little bit nuts. Squeeeeak.::

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Katara, even in an inebriated state, scooped up Renne to make sure he didn't fall over. His safety was important, and she was a little uneasy at his color change.

"A little," she said, giggling again. "Are you ok?"

[identity profile] bluebrassmonkey.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Eee....oooooh...Hellll-lowww. Tarrr-Tarrr-ta-Tarrr be...Noh fahll? Noh...go skwish-pat?

::Warbly squeak. Nuzzle. Her wellbeing is quite crucial in his mind as well, so despite his seriously mutilating his already bad English, he does ask. And clumsily tries to gently pet her hair::

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Katara shook her head. Half the time with Renne, it was always a race to see who was more motherly, and there was never really a clear victor.

"It's okay Renne, I'm fiiiine," Katara slurred. Part of her wished Billy was here: in this state, they could look after each other.

Also, she was curious at how drunk he was.

As the night wore on, Billy's sickness progressed at an alarming rate. By the time he'd realized this and stopped consuming anything, he'd already poisoned himself with far more alcohol than his body could handle.

Thus, Billy crawled to familiar feet with a bucket curled close. He wasn't that nauseous yet, but soon. "I'll be there 'soon's I can," he groaned from below, leaning against the closest ledge.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-24 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Katara, who finally spots Billy, is still motherly even in drunkenness, if not exactly agile on her feet as per usual. She stumbles over to him and gently rubs him on the back, looking a little bothered. "Billy? Are you all right? Can you stand?"

B-Beee?

::Oh yeah, he's warbling and once back down on the ground, swaying like a mast in the wind. Even so, he's still got his Mama Hen on and nudges a shoulder to try and at least help support the Human.::

Tarrr-Taa...Tarrrr be si-ck too. Rrrr-enne he-helll-p.

"Seems that we'rall sick," Billy observes, leaning into their touch and willing the nausea back down.

In response to Katara, he doesn't bother with nodding---that would just make the headache worse. Instead, he grips the pole closest to him and hauls upward----only to back down and reach for the bucket.

Yeah, he's that sick. Not handling alcohol at all, this one.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, the normally calm and restrained Matt was holding a tankard while stomping on the table, leading people in a drinking song. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWNy3NDNbXk)

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Katara went toward the singing, naturally a little curious when it came to music, and saw it was Matt. She couldn't help breaking out in a smile here: she hadn't seen Matt for a bit, and it was to see him in good spirits, even in this state.

"Hey Matt!" She greeted. "What are you singing?"

[identity profile] lackofdarkwings.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
"Drinking song!" proclaimed Matt, raising a tankard to Katara as he held out a hand. "Come, sing with me!"

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Katara grabbed a tankard, right now unwilling to be outdone, but was a little awkward about singing a song she didn't know. "Um Matt, I don't really know the song, how can I sing it?"

Not that she wasn't willing, she was definitely inebriated to do it.

[identity profile] lackofdarkwings.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"It's easy just follow me!" exclaimed Matt, stamping his foot in a beat while clapping his hands.

There's a saucy mare on the great big sea
her hands were filled with brew so green
I said to the captain what shall we do
with this greenish ale so bright and trueeeee~

Well the captain said now lad don't fuss
we'll drink it down with all the trust
cause she's a girl who serves us ale
and rum and wine we'll tie to the sail!

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Katara tried her best, but even she knew that knowing the lyrics were actually helpful, and she was only just trying to catch up. What she could do, however, was something she was always fairly good at.

She caught the beat, and decided to dance.

A jig was new of course, but it was only about keeping the pattern, and even drunk she could still do it. She even mimicked pouring Matt another bit of ale for himself.

[identity profile] lackofdarkwings.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Matt was having a good time, and knew that Katara was trying her best, so he led her along with the dance while his voice raised again.

Well that greenish ale it went down hard
and twenty men fell off the yardarm
they twitched and they spun but it was clear to see
that we'd drink it all for our fair lady

Her hair was dark in ringlet curls
her eyes were blue and colored sapphire
her bright laughter rang off the coast
as we set sail into the golden host

And now as we see with the lady in our arms
we have no wench no we have no yarn
this is a charm, this is a brilliant taaaaaale~

To be drinking that ladys sweet greenish allleeeeee!

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Katara mimicked the music as best as she could, and started to dance right along with Matt, at least able to keep his pace and collapse alongside him at the ending, laughing and cheering.

"Where'd you learn this song?" She asked, wiping the sweat off her brow and flexing a little. "It sounds like something Jamie would sing!"

[identity profile] lackofdarkwings.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Matt laughed as he took a cleansing swig of his drink. "Made it up, about three seconds ago," he replied with a throaty noise to his voice. "I'm like that."

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
She shook her head. "It's like you to be spontaneous like that," she said, wondering about what kind of drink that was actually drink. She took another drink, carefully swallowing. "One of these days you have to let me know where your inspiration comes from!"

So lucky they were drunk. No awkwardness at all!

[identity profile] lackofdarkwings.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
"I have very good sources," grinned Matt as he took a swig himself. Nope, no awkwardness here. Especially since he described Katara in the singing.

[identity profile] kaya-waterwave.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Poor Katara who didn't know that the description meant her at all: she figured these sort of songs described one of those kind of women who could walk into a bar freely, like Jun back in her world.

"So you know someone like that in your world?" Katara said, working hard to stay on her own two feet. "That's really great. I wish I had that talent!"

The latter was true. The former? Not so much.
