But why risk your life for someone you don't know? It defies logic, you don't know them. Your life is more valuable to the people you care about, isn't it? And those who care about you. I understand this romantic love you humans seem so fond of, and this strange bond shared between siblings, at least to a limit. But what other sort are you speaking of?

Ah, I see. Even if referring to the other you want to see punished.

But their life is valuable to the people they care about. There's romantic love, there's love for a family member, there's love for a friend, and then there's love for someone you don't know. I'm not really the expert on the last one. That's more my preacher's specialty- and I don't think even he gets it.

I just can't joke about something that happened- would have happened to Elfangor, O.K.? I keep picturing it.

True. But would you rather the people you care about be sad or someone else?

....this human 'love' thing is very complicated. How do you ever manage to keep it all straight?

Picture yourself eating escargot instead, whenever the thought tries to occur to you. It serves a double purpose.

That's not an easy question to answer.

And you don't, at least not consciously. Like I said I've never really thought about it. It's... wait... did you say there were people you were willing to die for?

I feel like I'm going to throw up. Was that one of your purposes?

[identity profile] echoofaperson.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
Of course it isn't. I rarely ask easy questions.

It's very hard to internalize an unconscious concept.

Yes, I did. Why is that surprising?

No, Loren. That is not my intent at all, he's not dead, and he never will be if you destroy the creature first, will he?

[identity profile] visserbasher.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
I don't even know why I'm trying to explain it to you.

Because you're... you.

Right. Because you know how easy it is to kill him. Well, I guess the Ohm did it.

[identity profile] echoofaperson.livejournal.com 2010-11-15 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Because I asked and you're naturally informative of ignorance.

Yes, and? I am capable of affection and affinity for other sentient creatures, even loyalty if given a good reason for it. It is your human emotions I have difficulty understanding.

You also have the benefit of foreknowledge. You can use that to predict him, you even have someone on the ship from after he has been defeated. You could always lay a trap.

How you could possibly make friends I'll never understand.

Time travel always gives me a headache.

I think it's my charming personality and intelligence. I'd say my good looks, but I think the human description of it is "EWWW, GROSS/SLIMY".

I think time travel gives everyone a headache. It's very poetic but very complicated. Just try not to blow me up if you do set a trap for him, I rather enjoy existence.
